There are atleast 2 explanations for why he has no mentees and that is not the only factor needed to be a good leader or political heavy weight but it helps.

It's also important to note corrupt men and politicians have mentees who are like their political slaves. That is the other extreme and a more destructive trait which we don't need in our politics.
