It is now clear that the Nigerian security structure is not there to secure Nigerians or protect this nation from external threats Instead, their objective is to uphold the existing internal power structure and safeguard the interests of influential individuals and groups. |

Reading all these one would think the land itself belongs to the Nigerian military or was allocated to the military by the FG. It's a piece of land bought by a private citizen who happens to be an ex CNS who is retired shikena . Those clamouring for military rule shey Una dey see tip of the iceberg. |

None will blame the young soldie, wike should apply wisdom. He knows the right thing to do, but as usual he thought he will be able to intimidate the young soldier |

Fundamentalist:Stop veering away from what he said. He said his wife is a captain. Where did he tell you his wife can send commissioned officers to go protect her property leaving their main post? Besides, where is their main post? Did you skip the part where the Officer said he is the personal security to the ex chief? As a personal security to the chief, where is his main post? Sambisa or maiduguri? Should all officers be in maiduguri and stop other administrative duties. Is it you that is in maiduguri facing the bandits? |

Human rights lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi clarified that soldiers on duty take orders only from their superiors within the military chain of command — the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs — not from any minister. He explained that while the FCT Minister represents the President in civil matters, this authority does not extend to military operations. Olajengbesi condemned any attempt by ministers to issue orders to soldiers, calling such actions reckless, unlawful, and an abuse of office. He warned that ministers have no immunity from prosecution if they obstruct or intimidate military officers carrying out lawful duties. He urged the government to act decisively to prevent future civilian–military clashes, emphasizing that the Constitution clearly separates civil administration from military command. |

Ttalk:With our morally corrupt democracy that wades unimpeded!! Wike opened his mouth and said if he demands percentage from fubara as his godfather, is anything wrong in it? Plus many corrupt practices going unopposed in the name of democracy in this country. We won't condemn them till these criminal politicians are challenged, then we start looking at rule of law and democracy!!! China openly said that corruption was significantly reduced in their country by enforcing and executing the death penalty for corrupt politicians!! Institutions were made stronger, but in Nigeria, individuals are stronger We Nigerians are our own problem |

Fundamentalist:We have had to deal with issues using the police. But still, if she gets an order to do it, even me or her father can not stop her from carrying out that order... such order may even include shooting your husband, she must obliged. PS: In one occasion, we have had 3 non-commissioned officers protecting a building she built in the past including a sergeant, this is because some trouble makers were breaking the outside lights(outside the fence) and were throwing stones and sticks inside the compound... the men were temporarily, not up to a week. |

If Yerima was indeed mounting guard for a retired admiral, that’s totally illegal. Active officers cannot serve private individuals. That’s misuse of state resources and a breach of the Armed Forces Act. So while his composure is commendable, his presence on that land raises real questions. He should have refused such deployment or reported it through the proper chain. Wike had legal power, but not emotional restraint. The officer had discipline, but maybe not legal justification. Both sides have faults: Wike has full legal authority over FCT lands but he acted unprofessionally and publicly humiliated the military. Yerima / Military side.. Showed discipline and restraint but acted on unlawful orders and misused soldiers for private purposes.... |

adamkkk:Anybody connected to the millitary in any form knows this truth. My dad is a retired naval personnel, when he saw what happened,he was so pissed eh. The officer was simply under and order. In the millitary, you cant disobey an order, this is something most civilians are finding very difficult to understand. |

[quote author=peekspot post=137455385]https://punchng.com/wike-naval-officer-clash-ex-generals-fume-as-fg-orders-probe/[/quote Wike acted irrationally especially with the way he yelled at the officer and calling him very offensive names. He should have used legal means, after all, it worked for him in Rivers and PDP. He should realize that noise making can't always win battles. |

National interest will ever override personal interest. Wike was protecting national interest while the soldier was protecting personal interest. The young officer has no business being in that land at the time. It is not and it will never be the duty of the army to guard a parcel of land that belongs to his superior to the detriment of the government. Even if such should be done, it is the duty of the police. For those saying he obeyed the order from the superior officer, if the young officer is asked to fireTinubu while attending a public function, would he do that ? Someone has quoted where the court has said that officer cannot take order that is illegal. The offences Wike committed that brought the level of hatred against him are 1. They accused him of giving Rivers' vote to Tinubu. 2. The accused him of ordering the killing of IPOB members in Obigbo. 3 They expected Fubara to silence Wike but got the opposite 4. They saw him as a threat to PDP existence. 5. Those that feel untouchable are being touched and my fellow Nigerians who cannot boost of a parcel of land in their villages are supporting them. In all, Wike continues to give them bloody nose. Let me see anyone that will come here to complain or share videos where he or she is being molested by any soldier. |
