Actually Zaidu deserves his spot as the first choice LB ahead of Bruno. Was solid all through.
Where Bruno Onyemachi rules is his ability to play as an inverted full back. This will help give us numbers in the middle. He also has better distribution than Sanusi. What Sanusi brings is the work rate, defensive ability and great in duels. He bombards the flank well.

However, I believe so much in inversion and increasing numbers in the midfield. This is where Bruno Onyemachi and Ola Aina shines.

Zaidu was more needed. Benjamin was doing enough in distribution while also keeping up his defensive duties. I doubt Bruno would have coped defensively like Zaidu did all game till he was subbed.

They dont get it. When we insist on 433, we also emphasize personnel tactical balance.

In a midfield 2, play your Ndidi and Iwobi. Or pair Onyeka and Iwobi.

But in a midfield 3, be careful, you must absolutely have a genuine 1st phase ball receiver and 2nd phase balk distributor. Onyeka and Ndidi are not such.

Personnel selection is so important. Not just picking 3 midfielders coz they are available and throwing them in together hoping for magic. If there is no balance technically and tactically, it wont hold eventually.
Well elaborated. I see Chelle has really worked on Ndidi but that fluidity is not there. We need naturals.

I seriously need a break from football. I'm worn out.

if ekong had come in and score own gown under that intesnse pressure una go still say why e bring ekong 😂 or the same ekong you all want to retire
The defence was holding its own quite alright before the sub, its common knowledge in football when it's close to PK shoot-outs coaches start making plans for that, you saw the congolese coach subbed out his goal keeper for a penalty specialist,
Meanwhile eric chelle kept our designated Taker on the bench, subbed out of one of best penalty taker, and brought in awaziem...
No way Bassey is taking the first pk if Ekong is on the pitch

Shout out to nwa Bali for saving 2 penalty kicks. Should Eric chelle take Nigeria to the Afcon ?

Very fair point.

What thrills me about inversion is cutting off supply. If you can cut the supply to the wingers, you won't need to win defensive battles. Also, if we controlled our transitions better we won't need that much defensive ability of Sanusi.

Immediately I saw the the formation without Onyedika I lost hope.

Truly. See Benjamin. A star. Nobody can deny it.

Tolu sha. I really had high expectations of him. Thought he'd burst my theory of not selecting big clumsy attackers but he's failed to prove me wrong.
Despite how they kicked that boy all through the game, he held his own; he's one of the reasons we still had a chance till the end. I must commend all our defenders and the goalkeeper today. I can't fault them much, but players like Iwobi, Lookman, Chuks, Simon, and all our attackers and midfielders let us down. I will only excuse Onyeka cos he got us a goal.

Now na Alhassan Yusuf?
Looking at the players that were invited, the best midfield partnership is between Yusuf and Ndidi.
This wasn't the first time i said this.

I have always wanted Iwobi wingwards.

Ndidi and Onyeka at the same time in the midfield is not a good idea at all.
None is a genuine central midfielder.

Meanwhile super eagles should not blame fans for being indifferent about them from now on…

Too much heart breaks.

2022 to Ghana
2024 to Ivory Coast
2025 to DRC

In as much as the NFF has their part, the players have refused to step up when it matters. Infact if they like they should win Afcon I no send them for now, till I see them actually really dominating and playing, not just in AFRICA but the world then I can believe in them, the fans have given a lot, we defend them, hype them, have faith even in unimaginable situations but they keep breaking fans heart.

As per super eagles of this generation, they signed off, they are not worth it, they are babies and flunked it when it matters, there are not ready to warriors, let them keep being babies, they do not deserve any support till they earn it with a consistent run of good performances… I can’t believe or trust them, Infact I expect to loose any game they play now because they proven to be chickens, even if they win they are still chickens, when they are ready to soar like eagles, they whole word will see.

What are we doing in a nonsense playoff in the first place? If not their embarrassing poor football, only osimhen, Benjamin, sometimes Bassey has shown real class, quality and intent, people like iwobi, Moses should be kicked out , tired of their mediocrity in the National team.

He has never scored any goal against the Top 5 teams on the Continent.

Sorry Supernerd, Osemen the goal Machine will score and take you to the world cup
I feel sad for Victor honestly. It is like Weah all over again but I pray not. 2030 is his last chance unless he plans to do a Ronaldo and play till 36+

Again, I hope time will be kind to Osimhen and the Super Eagles.

2026 Dream ends but the story...

I'm backing England for the mundial. The other African teams can go jump in a lagoon of acid. I wish them the most rotten of luck.

Funny enough this DRC side might not survive the inter-confederation playoffs. Imagine not burying this shambolic Nigerian side in regular plus extra time. We might be seeing 9 African teams at the World Cup, not 10.

Well with this show of shame we displayed tonight it's better we crashed out tonight instead of going to go and disgrace ourselves in the continental playoffs next year. At least the scars of tonight should have slightly healed by then. As for the NFF if war torn Congo can work on their football team to be this resurgent then the government or ministry of sports should know what to do if they still want to see Nigeria playing in the world cup in their life times, all round mediocrity from the youth stages to the senior team, the dark age of Nigerian football

Whenever we fail, I hear talks about disbanding the team, rebuilding bla bla bla.

See I will keep saying it. We don't plan. We are too haphazard, too chaotic for long term sustained success.

France has Clairefontaine. Where is our National Football Academy?

Black people. Me, make I no talk sha

He has to be fit for Galatasaray. They are the ones paying his salary.

If you have data then watch the video below to understand how important big players are to their clubs.

Let's be honest... Midfield still needs iwobi. Also the coach would hv kept chukwueze and being ejuke to replace lookman. Chukwueze was playing both wing nd midfield and it was stabilized then.
The moment chukwueze and iwobi was removed, everything scattered

If others indulge in this kind of petty and graceless attitude, I'd overlook it but you?

Ask FIFA.

Fifa does not send auditors and forensic accountants to audit football associations so that they can sack a country's incompetent FA presidents.

I dare say Osimhen wasn't injured.
I dare say Tolu suffered similar treatment.
I dare say Eric Chelle was provoked maybe.

Truth will come out soon

I would say he removed them too early. With osimhen gone the remaining bits of our attack should have flown through lookman for some time, Eric got most of his subs wrong
