What a ride. I rest now. See you all by December 21-23.

Not the first time our hearts get broken. But it is the first time we experience back to back WCQs failure since our 1994 debut. Similar to how we experienced back to back AfconQs failure between 2015 and 2017.

We will be back. Till then, Ciao...

Let's be honest... Midfield still needs iwobi. Also the coach would hv kept chukwueze and being ejuke to replace lookman. Chukwueze was playing both wing nd midfield and it was stabilized then.
The moment chukwueze and iwobi was removed, everything scattered
Iwobi needs to be benched and brought on in the 2nd half.

He never presses or marks in important matches since his red card against Tunisia in 2022 AFCON.

Lookman too needs to be benched.

I commended Eric Chelle for the kind of wingers he invited, but i wasn't swayed by the results.

The goals we conceded were down to positioning.
The CB's kept a highline, and will not recover easily. Eric Chelle should have corrected this.

Alhassan Yusuf is a genuine central midfielder, why was he not featured.
alhassan Yusufhuh?? I swear we are not ready in this country

Ask FIFA.

Fifa does not send auditors and forensic accountants to audit football associations so that they can sack a country's incompetent FA presidents.
Why can’t we do the needful and direct money to where it should be. Do we need FIFA to audit us?

Eric Chelle is a good coach, I will give it to him.
I saw some things.
I prefer him to Finidi and Eguavoen.

And how many games has he actually played against them? Not a valid point.

If you want to bring up Osimhen’s availability, then that is valid.

that coach is bang average. Osimhen has carried the team all along and masked this guys incompetence. Rather eguavoen take us to Afcon than this bald fraud

The coach didn't have second option. Imagine, he didn't prepare for penalty.

All best penalty players were pulled off. This coach is an amateur.

Lastly just like some of us here have been saying this is African football you need power and pace, it’s a bit of shame to see how DRC was out muscling our boys even bullying them in some instances, these light weight players that we often parade can’t cut it for us all the time. It’s the same thing Ivory Coast did to us in the last Afcon finals.

Until we start having again the likes of very physical players in the past like onazi, emenike, obaobona, robust players that can go toe to toe with very physical teams in Africa omo this is how we will always come short. Even an onyedika some of us have been crying about would have been muscled out by the DRC players. There is a physicality to our game that’s still missing and like I always say most of our games are played in Africa except when you play friendlies with other countries from other continents or at the World Cup when you qualify but this physical aspect of our game need to be addressed since almost all of our games are on the continent, apart from Bassey or maybe Onyeka our boys easily get bullied by very physical African teams.

Moses Simon and Ejuke substitution just weak me. Chuks was playing a free role which was helping us transition more easily from defense to attack, piaaaammm he was yanked off for Ejuke who can neither pass, dribble nor mark. grin

Relieve the coach of his duties and don’t invite 90% of the team anymore we can start preparing for the 2030 World Cup as soon as possible . Let the remo stars coach take the team to the Afcon I doubt Nigerians will still invest emotionally after today’s debacle

TheSuperNerd:
They dont get it. When we insist on 433, we also emphasize personnel tactical balance.

In a midfield 2, play your Ndidi and Iwobi. Or pair Onyeka and Iwobi.

But in a midfield 3, be careful, you must absolutely have a genuine 1st phase ball receiver and 2nd phase ball distributor. Onyeka and Ndidi are not such.

Personnel selection is so important. Not just picking 3 midfielders coz they are available and throwing them in together hoping for magic. If there is no balance technically and tactically, it wont hold eventually.
I don't think that's even the solution. Chelle could have started your preferred personnel, adopted your tactics, and we would have still lost today.

Its like teams coming up against prime barca of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquet, Eto and co of those days. E no matter who you select or the formation, you'll lose the midfield and possession battle. Yes, DR Congo is that well drilled . We could only play defensively, and we did that quite well

Also, our game plan collapsed completely when Osimhen left the game because that gave them the impetus to attack us, and pile pressure on our midfield.

Somehow, I knew the game would turn out like this and its the reason I refrained from posting in the lead up to the match and predicting a victory unlike most regulars here.

Its painful but we can only look forward towards the AFCON and hope we do win it.

World cup chapter closed, we look forward to AFCON.

€213M XI vs. €81M XI

Omo... I'm damn heartbroken 😔
I feel for Nwabali more, he made that last minute save and ran into the frame of the goal, saved two penalties to keep the hope alive, but people like Simon can't take penalties to save their lives. If defenders are missing PKs, you wey be attacker supposed dey play PK like small girl?

In all, Éric Chelle is still the man, anybody saying otherwise no sabi wetin them dey talk. I just weak... 4 years? Headache wan kee me 😔💔

Chelle has done better than Eguavon let’s be factual

Chelle should be at the helm through the next WCQ cycle unless he has a terrible outing in the upcoming AFCONs.

NFF needs a rehaul on the nation’s football. From U17 upwards…
