My Experience As A Toy Vendor In Ibadan (true Story) by Abksextoys1(op): 9:55am On Nov 16, 2025
(A Family-Friendly, Rule-Safe Version)

Running a small business in Ibadan has taught me so many unexpected lessons, but none as unique as what I’ve experienced since I started selling personal wellness items.

Most people think selling “toys” automatically means something outrageous or indecent, but my own journey has been very different. From day one, I understood that Ibadan is a family-centered city. People here value respect, privacy, and trust. So I built my work around those values.

The funny thing is — my first customers were not who I expected.
They weren’t young, loud, or dramatic. They were actually married couples, most of them quiet, polite, and grateful. Many shared stories about wanting to reconnect after long years of marriage, or wanting to spice things up in simple, healthy, responsible ways.

Some even came with questions like:

“Is this safe?”

“How do I talk to my partner about trying something new?”

“Will this help us reduce stress?”

I realized quickly that what I was selling wasn’t just a product.
It was relief.
It was confidence.
Sometimes, it was even healing.

One unforgettable moment was when a woman — a mother of three — told me that she and her husband had been laughing more and arguing less since they bought something small from me. The way she smiled made my whole week. That’s when it clicked for me: this business is actually about helping people rebuild closeness, not about anything indecent.

Another man told me he never thought he would buy anything like that in his lifetime, but after years of stress from work and responsibilities, he wanted something that could help him and his wife relax and bond again. His courage impressed me.

Of course, running a business in this industry in Nigeria comes with its challenges.
People judge.
People whisper.
Some think it’s illegal, even though it isn’t.

But what keeps me going is the understanding that real families in Ibadan are using these items not for immorality, but for emotional connection, stress relief, and honest marital improvement.

The most surprising part?
A huge number of my customers are church-going couples who simply want a healthier marriage.
And because I treat every customer with respect and confidentiality, many of them recommend me quietly to their friends.

So, yes — my work is unusual.
Yes — it’s different.
But it has taught me patience, empathy, and deep respect for the private struggles people face behind closed doors.

I’ve learned that relationships require effort.
And sometimes, a small tool, a little encouragement, or a new experience can save a tired marriage from drifting apart.

If there is one thing I’ve gained from this business, it’s understanding.
Understanding that intimacy isn’t dirty.
It’s not shameful.
It’s part of life, part of family, part of love — and helping people maintain that bond has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

People don’t buy anything in this forum. They only set scams. OP is barking up the wrong tree.

You've obviously been dealing with the wrong folks. A lot of successful business transactions happen daily on nairaland.

The scam complaints you see are not even up to 5% of total transactions.

Do they buy car from afar? Before you buy car, you will definitely inspect the car and be satisfied with the condition before making payment.

There are a lot of reputable companies and business owners on this forum, I expect them to float an escrow service on Nairaland.

I can even initiate such service or get a friend that own a known company in Naija to offer such service through Nl, but I wonder if Seun and the mods would accept such.

Because that is the only way to safeguard buyers and sellers buying and selling things on anonymous forum like this. There are people of bad intention even in abroad, it's always the system that checkmates them and their activities

The dang about intimacy gadgets is that it encourages mastturbation. Mastturbation is one crazy addiction to break. It's easier to stop smoking colos than quitting wannking. One lady i had an affair with back in the days had a toy. Before I met her, it's been years she dated and after our affair, she hasn't been dating either. She doesn't feel the necessity of keeping a relationship, we broke up so easily. Her toy is her hubby.
OP, we understand you're trying to sell your market but don't bring morality to it by saying church-going couples patronize you. It's like producing adult movies, you're in a business that complicates other people's lives.
