HorlahTunjee:How long did it take for you get your passport back once you got the email from VFS informing you that a decision had been reached? |

chima1978:You dey Lagos still pay for courier. Nna, you dey loaded. 1-2 days is enough to get your passport delivered. |

jmoore:It is not a matter of being loaded. It's a matter of convenience and what services me best. First of, using an uber to go from my office to Ikeja. And getting permission to go an pick up within their work hours is enough stress. Paying for courier was the best alternative. |

Gurus in the house, please I need help. I just received a visa refusal mail. I applied for myself, my wife and son for a 7 days trip to the UK. My wife and myself got a six month visa in April, which we traveled in April and came back but, it got expired in October this year. We applied for another six months visa with our son to travel for December but just got a refusal mail now. We all have a 5years US visa which we used last year. And also we have all been to Uk thrice before now. I am currently staying in my property, at the time we move to the property the address street was not properly numbered and labeled until now. I have not also updated the address on my bank statement and account. But it was the same bank statement I used in April and the same information. Please I need help, how I explain these things: 1. How do I correct my address on my bank statements to reapply again? 2. How do I explain to them that payslips doesn’t show bank account money was paid to? 3. My bank account statement reflects the exact amount on the payslip that my company paid 4. My salary differs in each month which is due to different allowances being paid by my employer month which I explained in my cover letter 5. Should I apply immediately to correct this impression or should I still wait? 6. Should I go apply for Schengen visa 7. How do I clean my travel records with this refusal Note: I have not have any visa refusal in the last 10years. I have been issued Schengen visas twice in the past and been to the USA many times with my family. Please I really need your help 🙏🙏

jukeman:Sorry about your refusal. It can be quite upsetting. To answer your questions; Question 1- This is for you to contact your bank. Question 2,3 and 4- You can explain this in a refusal response letter- your employer can also supply a cover note detailing salary etc - did you get an introduction letter from your employer? Question 5- You’re the one who knows the true picture of your situation- if all facts laid out are correct and I was in your position, I’d address everything stated in the refusal letter and reapply immediately. Question 6- This I believe should be a decision you should make yourself. You already have a travel history based on what you stated. Question 7- There is nothing to clean up, don’t beat yourself up about it. You still have a US visa. I know people who have traveled to so many countries but the US still has refused them every time. - In the refusal letter it states you claim you’ve lived the address for 15 years but the address in your last application was different. You should be able to provide evidence to this claim in your response to them. I believe the name of the street hasn’t changed. Their may be number changes. Do you still have the form from your previous application in April? - your office staff ID doesn’t show company details- this doesn’t make it look credible. I have never seen any staff ID without details of company so you can understand why it would cast doubts at their end. - both bank account statements gtbank and Stanbic are different- you’d be in a better position to explain the reason to them. - If you’re earning such amount, you have and most pay pension including tax - you can provide your pension statement alongside your personal income tax remittances. This can also help build up your case. - your employment letter should also help. Offer letter - I am sure most of these things would have also been shared with you via email and the time stamps would be on it. This should also help build your case. You must understand that these guys don’t trust anyone so you have to make sure you don’t let them cast any doubt on your application. They are aware that people build their accounts for the period of time before putting in application. JUST TO ADD- stay away from French embassy right now if you do choose to apply for Schengen. They are insane at the moment. I and other folks I know who have always had long term visa - a year and above all got the exact duration for our next trip upon applying. We all applied at different times and have no ties to each other. Some also got single entry. These are people that have always gone to Schengen states for donkey years. There is a new sheriff in town and that sheriff is a mad one. And now processing time is a minimum of 30 days. |

jukeman:Sorry about the refusal. I'm surprised at this - especially since you have a valid 5 year US visa. However, these days, nothing should really surprise us as some Nigerians have given us a bad name in most Countries. I believe the VO was fishing for a reason to refuse your application and he found a few loopholes. First, I always advise people to be consistent. Always keep a copy of your previous visa forms and be consistent with your information. If a VO is fishing for a reason to refuse your application, he/she will find several reasons if you are not consistent. It appears your house address triggered several other suspicions. If you are paid allowances in your office apart from your monthly salary, please ensure you explain this and get a letter from your office to back up your claims. Unless your company is not organized, you should have a proper staff ID card that shows your name, role and company logo. The expiry date of the ID card is not really that important. I think you were lucky with your previous visas. They have set a stage for you to get another visa if you pay attention to details in your next application. I think your monthly cost of living is high...Do you really spend an average of N3M every month? Calculate again. I suggest you reapply after a few months. Good luck! |

Regex:That is correct. You are fine. As long as you are applying from inside the UK you do not need the passport imminently to apply. |

saint4belles:Check at the top How much are you planning PERSONALLY to spend? You filled 1000 pounds which is same thing ECO said. It has been reiterated here, personally to spend question she should fill in 400 pounds if that is what she is bringing and not 1000 pounds. As ECO said 1000 pounds is more than 5 times her disposal income. Her income is low! Very low. It is what she filled they judged on. What they goofed on is that she said no one will be spending on the trip when in actual fact, she mentioned a sponsor. Note that it is the applicant’s own circumstances that are taken into consideration not sponsor and that’s what ECO has mentioned. To be honest, no one will give you a visa with this salary to the UK in present times. 350k and you want to visit UK? As in not a mandatory trip, not a medical trip… tourism trip with 350k. The country is currently under tension because of the number of overstayers and illegal immigrants so I am not surprised with the refusal letters flying about. Not like you are visiting a brother or sister… You just want to visit. What happens when you get stuck financially? There will be issues and you will go and claim taxpayers funds. So they are being proactive now. No flimsy reasons for UK visa. They want people with low economic and lack of strong home ties to go to other countries. You can file a complaint and see what becomes of it. Search the thread for it.

Thanks for your suggestion and advice. I don’t know if they did not see all documents I uploaded with this application. Just to add that I submitted the followings with my application: 1. An introduction letter from my company indicating my job title and position with my salary on it 2. Company Introduction letters for my wife and son showing that they are traveling with me 3. Employment letters 4. Company I’d card. My company I’d card only shows the picture of me with a microchip on it for access into offices, in and out the company facility. This is the type of I’d cards that my company currently uses. My company is a well established company in Nigeria and in the USA. 5. I submitted 4 landed documents including the one I currently live on 6. My home address. I have lived there for more than 15yrs, at the time I moved there the street does not have a name and there was no numbering until now that the place is now developed. 6. The home address on the this application form is the same with the one I used in April. But different from the one I used in my application in 2013. Now in the refusal letter sent to me, they said I can not appeal the decision. i.e no right of appeal or right to administrative review. I have already gone to my banks for the home address update/ change of address. Manlikechims: |

Thanks @Cashmadam for your response. Just to add that the home address I used for this application is the same with the one used in April. The only difference was with the one I used in 2013 applications. Though, it is different from what was in the 3 bank statements that I used for the application. And still the same with the application I submitted in April. The different allowances paid was explained in my cover letter and I submitted a remuneration letter stating the different allowances I received. This was also submitted with the application. My company I’d card only shows my photograph with my names on it and a microchip on, which is what my company uses in her branch in Nigeria and in other countries. Will you advise me to apply immediately again or wait till January. I am not in any tight band, though I promised to take my son to the uk for his 17years birthday celebration and due to his tight school calendar. He will only have December for his holidays with us. I really your advice. Thanks 🙏 Cashmadam: |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Manlikechims: 8:29am On Nov 20, 2025 |
jukeman:Based on the above, if I were you, I’d reapply immediately. Shouldn’t exceed 2 weeks. I think waiting too long is always bad signal, almost like the refusal was valid. If I were you I’d respond to each reason I and my family were refused, addressing each and tidy up ALL loose ends. I would submit exact same documents as the last time but just update bank statements from the previous one submitted- for example, if you printed till 25th October, you start printing from 25th till the day before submission and make sure you write with a bold marker stating UPDATED ACCOUNT- - if you live in an area where you pay estate dues etc, add that. - if you have bills dating back from then, add that. - if you have emails from a really long time ago from your employers- add it - pension statement, tax remittance to support your claim. - if you get rental income from your properties- use a colored marker on your statement of account to highlight those parts. - Do a financial schedule to show inflows from other sources , remuneration and highlight it on your statement too. - Your employer should support by giving evidence of your employment and also provide evidence to show where your payments are made to. Write a strong response but polite. ALSO APPENDIX EACH DOCUMENT- Eg- Bank Statements - Appendix A Employment letter and support documents from employer- Appendix B Other income - Appendix C Cover note - appendix D Financial schedule- Appendix E Etc , this makes it easy for them to peel it layer by layer. The ECO looking at it doesn’t become overwhelmed with too many information and can look at each based on the appendix and easy it to miss out critical information Your letter should also state how you’ve put together the document by appendix eg I hereby attach the following supporting document; 1- Appendix A : Employment letter 2- Appendix B : Bank statements 3- Appendix C: proof of address Etc You get? Not to flog a dead horse but having the company Id wasn’t necessary in the first place. |

jukeman:I think you can reapply immediately if you are in the mood to do that - I say this because the application process itself can be draining. Per the address. Yes, you got a visa application approved with the old address. Obviously the visa officer then did not think it was a material issue. However, the visa officer who refused your last application was shopping for a reason to refuse you - for reasons best known to him/her. Therefore, every little detail becomes material. Please update your address in all your banks and add a detailed cover letter to your next application. Most importantly, pray for favour. Ultimately, it is God that crowns our efforts with success. Good luck! |

for a first timer applicant for U.K... e.g someone that earns like 800k in a month... if the person has an opening balance of 5M and the balance did not go beyond 5M within the period of 6 months .. how much is expected to remain out of the 800k salary.. Also.. the person has a side gig in a bizness account.. where he sees a profit of almost 250 to 350k profit in a month( average of 200K monthly) . How best is the account should be run for the purpose... kindly advice |

akinsanya005:You are a first timer according to you. Open a business account and separate everything OR apply to ogher more lenient countries. Several deposits into your account can confuse the ECO and they would not take what you say as law. |
