I am planning on setting up an online radio. Do people listen to online radios? Is it profitable? What do you think guys? I don't want to waste my money. |

It's profitable provided you have good content. |

What would an online radio station do? Would you broadcast news, music, weather, and guests? If so then that’s a lot of money needed to set it up. Would people tune in? I don’t think as many people needed to make it profitable would tune in. We have weather apps on our phone, Spotify and YouTube for music, and our social media feeds for news. You’re competitors are many. Attention is currency. It would have to be a very tight niche. Maybe in a local language, featuring the demands of those local people. Their music, their culture, and their needs. If you’re aiming to serve the masses then it’s harder. IMHO. |

Kinda Outdated tbh honest. Why not try streaming platforms like Tiktok, Twitch e.t.c it's more popular among the new Gen and you'd get more audience. |

SkengRay:Ok. But think tiktok and twitch are more for video streaming and podcasts kinda thing. Outdated? Ok, that's what I'm trying to find out if people actually listen to radio online |

july21st:Exactly. The thing is The Radio stations are dying out. The Radio itself is mostly listened to by the Older generation. Even the Radio Stations do their programmes on Tiktok live Concurrently on the Air.The Younger Generation want something they can connect to and with that why Podcasts are now Videos instead of Audio( like Radio e.t.c. |

july21st:Back then, I used to listen to Radio Biafra before it was shut down, and the live streams consistently pulled in hundreds of thousands of listeners. That’s why I said earlier, if your content is solid, people will always show up. At the end of the day, audience growth is driven by the quality of what you put out. Content is everything. |
