Where you guys should take the lead, you wouldn't.

First, it is a first date. For a serious minded young man looking for a wife, you should look for dates where you can be yourselves and you interact a lot. Fine dining to too excessive for a first date.

Second, you are the man, you are the one spending, you CHOOSE the restaurant. If she is not comfy being with you alone at a place of your choice, she sponsors her friends codedly to tail you guys.

Third, you tell her the budget and/or order things within your budget. You can give her choices within your budget. Do you want stir fry pasta or native jollof rice? Etc etc.

Paying is the best option in the modern world, this women are selling it, just buy and move on.
