Do you have a partner that beats you always and later buys you gifts or spoil you with good things? Do you have a partner that cheats and shows remorse when caught? Do you have a partner that is toxic sometimes and very friendly sometimes? I want to tell you that the nice time your partner shows you after red flags does not destroy the red flag. If you notice some terrible attitude of your partner that occurs especially on different occasions, do not be carried away by the beautiful times that her or she may give. You may see hell if you marry such a person. |

Whenever I tell some of my fellow women how many of us women are GBV enablers and not victims, they always get triggered. Only few women are the real victims of GBV while the rest are enablers... You can't call yourself a GBV victim when you yourself would've made a choice to stay and endure the abuse until you're badly hurt or no more, some of them would even cut ties with their friends and family members for trying to intervene, but the moment they die in the hands of their abusive men, we women are expected to speak up against GBV when they should have left the moment those men raised their hands on them. That's why I didn't join the whole purple movement that was happening here in SA because even though I stand with the real victims of GBV regardless of gender, many of those women wouldn't think twice before attacking their fellow women for suggesting that we tackle the root of the problem before we can deal with the problem itself... Some of them would still go back home to enable the abuse to continue instead of leaving. If only we could up and leave the moment men raise their hands on us like men immediately leave upon finding out that they're being double crossed by their women, the world would've been a better place to live in as women. |
