Basically, you are admitting to them not having been abused and brainwashed as much as you were. And somehow to you, that is a bad thing? undecided

Discipline is not abuse, I don't get where you get brainwashing from, that's a word used along with indoctrination...were your parents religious extremists or in a cult?

What the vast majority of you in Nigeria regard as discipline is abuse. This includes the wicked, vile words that many parents throw at their children. None of it is discipline. That is why Children grow up fearing their parents instead of actually living and respecting them. undecided

Indoctrination comes with in with the many lies and contradictory ideas your parents, including your traditionally/religiously inclined members of your community fill your heads with in the name of keeping you from what they refer to as vices and sins. Those contradictory ideas your heads are filled with from a young age are intended to keep you from being able to critically process your life and reality outside of that which you have been raised in. 🥱🥱

Without discipline kids will grow up to be irresponsible and wayward adults... discipline straighten kids out, I don't know where you got your abuse from. If your parents abuse or indoctrinated you on bad ideologies or ways, then that's too bad...most parents I know discipline their kids the normal way and steer them aright.

Are you sure you are OK? Why does it particularly trigger you? Are you currently inflicting the same on your children? 🥱🥱

What I explained there are the ways that parents inflict trauma and abuse — damage that research has been identified as following their children well into adulthood— all while tagging it discipline and morality. Many of these previously traumatised/abused individuals go on to believe that by passing on the same trauma and abuse that was previously inflicted on them by their parents, their own kids would turn out as pacified by it all as they were— what is right according to their own delusion.🥱🥱

Children in Europe and other saner countries are not abused and traumatized as Nigerian children, yet they, on average, grow up to be better citizens and members of the community than most of your abused and traumatized Nigerian children. The people in those climes grow up more disciplined than your Nigerian children. undecided

Compare the chaos that is Nigeria after 60 years to, say, the calm and crime levels in places like Sweden or Denmark, where child abuse, trauma, and indoctrination masked as discipline are almost non-existent. undecided

Nigeria's problem is religious and political, talk like you have sense...I don't go back and forth on non issues. Baseless back and forth...if you don't understand what discipline is, go to primary school.

I respectfully think you should spend some time researching those two words, "respect" and "fear", because, while I am fully aware the two are conflated, especially in our Nigerian culture, the two words do not mean the same thing. ..
Everyone knows that they are not the same however in real eyeity and practicality the 2 are well mixed and intertwined and it is based on that perfect mixture that the non genzeeas are respecting

You are very free to assume the words "fear" and "respect" are the same thing and are intertwined, but the fact is they are not.

I'm very certain even you must have friends you do not fear but have a lot of respect for. And many men do not fear their wife but respect her and vice versa.

Seriously, think about it. "Everyone knows that they are not the same however in real eyeity"?

In what "real eyeity" and what "practicality the 2 are well mixed and intertwined"? I mean, 'well mixed' how? 'Intertwined' where? And how is that a "perfect mixture" that these "genzeeas are respecting"?

Its killing them, DT, if true. At least its making genzeeas suffer.
