 I have no beef with who ever is my president, I only have a problem with an inactive and fearful leader cause it means they can't lead right. What are the details contained in the 'fresh directives'. What are the new ideas. What are the new reforms. What is the new direction. That is the essence of real governance. Giving skin and bones to ideas, vision and promise. In this democracy it is hard to know who the architect of the fight against insecurity is. Who is doing the thinking, planning the strategies. Because in other democracies the security institutions including the military are confined to execute whatever strategies they are given. They are mission oriented. They cannot solve complex national problems. I have said many times. I really do not understand what the role of the NIPSS is. They are supposed to an apolitical think tank when it comes to issues like this. They should be able to tell truth to power while levitating above whatever sentiment politics disperses into society. It is them a serious government can tap for ways to put a lid on this problem. The military alone CANNOT solve the kind of insecurity we face because the roots are ingrained and interwoven into the fabric of our identity and persuasions. A president that is in charge. A president that can remove and replace, just within 3 years. Buhari did not touch any of his appointees for 6 years no matter the criticism against them. He pretended he didn't hear anyone. It's great to have a strong but listening president. My criteria for a president is not abscence of challenges but how you demonstrate you are in charge.
