Worst Decision I Made This Year?

Believing that doing the right thing would protect me

I trusted a man with his car under a hire agreement, When the engine died, I took it upon myself to fix it based on our written and verbal agreement,I borrowed money, took loans with my wife and mother-in-law’s help, I spent over 1.3 million to replace the engine all because I believed in keeping my word and did all in good faith, believing I would be refunded or allowed to recover the money from the job

The day the car got fixed was the day my life scattered the owner changed the story, secretly collected the vehicle from the dealer, and sold it without telling me. Up till now, he refused to give me a single naira from the money I invested

That single betrayal displaced my family
We lost our home
I’ve been moving from place to place
My wife is staying with her mother
I’m still repaying the debt every week, every month for a sacrifice I made in good faith

It hurts to realize a man can destroy your life simply because he has power and connections.
But even in all this, I’m still standing wounded but not finished

If this year taught me anything, it’s that having a good heart doesn’t mean people will treat you right but God sees everything

I pray 2026 brings healing, justice, and a fresh start for me and my family 🙏

As for “being wicked,” honestly that one no fit me because I was raised to do right by people even when life shows me the oppositei still believe kindness pays, it just takes time

And about where I stay… I’m based in Lagos normally, that’s where I run my mobility work. But since this whole incident happened, I haven’t had a stable home or job, so I’ve just been moving between family houses for now still around Lagos axis
I’m just trying to get back on my feet.

My only challenge right now is stability. I’m still paying the debts from the car issue, and I don’t even have a steady place to stay or transport money to move around consistently

Once I get a little footing, I’ll definitely volunteer or take anything that can help me rebuild. For now, I’m just trying to survive small small and find my balance again
