MrNovo:
Sorry about this, next time always do some finding on your own before engaging anyone's assistance.
If you did you would have realised some mix up in the information the agent was presenting to you.
Most of what you wrote up there "sounds like" the PECG scholarship program which is for undergraduate and in line with your mention of first class. It's not the GCUB which you say it is because that's a Masters and PhD scholarship

program while it is taught in Portuguese language it is not as strict as PECG in insisting you have Portuguese proficiency at the admission stage. GCUB stipend is 2100 Reis and above. Once you get your award letter you don't need any assistance for your visa which is expedited since the embassy already has your name and expecting your application.
I know there is a genuine organisation in Lagos doing Celpibras language training majorly for people intending to pursue undergraduate studies in Brazil.
My question is this - do I have to speak Portuguese before getting a scholarship?
I run a business in Nigeria but I want to study in Brazil probably language is that possible

Pec-PLE will be your best option. A scholarship program under Capes that allows you to study Portuguese for one year in Brazil then continue with your degree program if you pass the Portuguese exam.

Congratulations to everyone who made the PEC-PG list, 7 out of 8 of my people made it. It's a remarkable feat. We await the final list by 17th December.

ihavesense:
I woke up this morning to a message from SugarPG that I made it in the PEC-PG scholarship program.
This message couldn’t have come in at any better time than this morning.
Let me tell my short guys.
I met SugarPG towards the end of last year.
At that time, I was already on the waitlist for German Chancenkarte visa.
My plan was to use Brazil as a second option or fallback if Germany denied me.
So we entered into agreement to help me secure admission for MSc in any of the Brazilian universities because by that time, GCUB and PEC-PG has already ended their applications.
And delivered!!!
He applied to many universities and around March this year, I got an MSc admission with stipend at UFMS to study computer science.
I didn’t enroll because I believed 💯 that I will get the German visa and I have also made huge financial commitments in that regard.
On September 9th, I received one of the greatest shock of my life and I was denied the German Chancenkarte visa 😭
I reached out to SugarPG to know if I could still take advantage of the admission I got and it turned out that I couldn’t.
He considered my plight and we entered into an agreement the second time to help me apply again.
This time around, there was still time to apply for PEC-PG and on September 25th he submitted an application for PEC-PG on my behalf and he delivered again!!!!
If someone does something the first time, we can attribute it to sheer luck or a one off chance or something like that but when the same person repeats it the second time, then it’s obvious that the person knows what he is doing.
SugarPG has cracked Brazilian admission application.
I will recommend him.
Now we await for the final result to be fully happy

Sorry to ask, are they still going to pick the 350 out of the 3000+ or will they Increase the slot?
Re: Study In Brazil: Admissions And Visa Procedures by SugarPg(m): 2:23pm On Dec 12, 2025
This format will be followed to prioritize the final selection list. older candidates and female candidates will get the edge in each program.

My advice to you is to go with one step at a time, don't be too anxious about some of these things. Apply for your visa, get into the country, focus on your program, explore other opportunities, invite your family over, give birth and secure permanent residency if you want. Brazil is not a country that chases anyone around because his or her study visa expires.
If you want to continue with PhD after masters is to apply in your school or other schools and you continue your stay. The only major issue with Pec-Pg is that your certificate get sent to your home country.

Additives:
Thank you at @Sugarpg and everyone that has been giving valuable information here.

Please I have a question,

Good afternoon,

I'm reaching out for guidance on a matter concerning this PEC scholarship. My name is on the list , and I'm grateful for the opportunity if I made the final list. However, I'm facing a challenge as a family man. The scholarship terms state that I must return to my home country after completing my master's degree.

My concern is that my family mayjoin me in Brazil, and my wife may secure a job or study visa. In this scenario, I'd like to explore options to opt out of the PEC scholarship's return requirement without jeopardizing my visa status or facing any penalties.

I'm eager to understand if there are ways to navigate this situation without becoming an undocumented immigrant. Have others in similar situations found alternative paths? Are there any precedents or expert advice on how to approach this?

My goal is to explore opportunities in Brazil while maintaining a legitimate immigration status. I'd appreciate any guidance or insights on how to address this situation.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

I applied for family reunion visa with embassy is more than one month now, no reply from the embassy. Have anybody experienced similar duration before

By the way I am already in Brazil, I got direct admission with scholarship. I saw my name on PEC list. Is it possible for me to write to them to give someone else my spot. Because I wouldn't proceed with it.
