What school you going to overthere and what's the resumption time
Griffith College Dublin

It's not unusual for it to take this long during this period. Visa decisions usually take 6-8 weeks during normal periods so I'd imagine it will be a bit longer now that it's their peak period. You submitted September, that's roughly 8 weeks by my calculations so who knows, you might hear something soon. Be positive. Good luck

kayla23:
I applied in april 2025 against February 2026 resumption in griffith college dublin. Got my admission that same april and started preperations for visa same april, gathered money, wrote english test and did all necessary processes.

I applied for my visa in september 2025 thinking id get it by october, buy ticket against early january so i can go and hustle accommodation before school starts.

This is December and nothing, I cant make any plans at the moment cause i dont know what they are doing again.

I have spoken to the school about visa application withdrawal and they said they will refund the tuition deposit but theyd take a few deductions but i should please exercise patience with the embassy.

Where did you find this information? Is this just an assumption.
Because Nigerian population seeking asylum is less than 35% of people seeking asylum.
I do not believe it has anything to do with Asylum. This delay started when they moved to the new place..
The delay is not affecting study visa it is affecting visit visa applicants too..
I have someone whom visit visa took 17 weeks but it was approved.
The Irish are not happy with illegal immigrations particularly unvetted people from Ukraine.

abuhusna1:
Most of you experiencing delay, sorry to tell you it was because if your brothers and sister already in Ireland for study purpose and most of them are claiming asylum. They are trying to reduce study route application from Nigeria because if this act
Re: Ireland Study Visa thread,General Life Experience of Nigerians Living in Ireland by bigmills: 3:41pm On Dec 04, 2025
Plus lots of people in ireland for study purpose are not seeking asylum..Where did you get this information from?
People are getting jobs even uphill last year Ireland gave people Stamp without the need for workpermit..

Yes even this year, majority that submitted application for September got response within 8 weeks
Ayo112:
It's usually like that before, visa decision comes out early. I got my initial visa decision in August and I applied late June but now seeing someone who has gotten decision since that August is now a huge task and this people are not rushing themselves based on the number of lists they release every Monday.
Re: Ireland Study Visa thread,General Life Experience of Nigerians Living in Ireland by bigmills: 3:44pm On Dec 04, 2025
You can ask for your passport, it does not stop your visa processing
kayla23:
When i see 2 pages list, i dont even bother to search my number.

Extremely disappointing.

And our Passports are with them o, we cant even start looking or processing plan B for ourselves.

They haven't heard anything that's why I was shocked when you said your resumption for Griffith is January and when one of the guy I know is February 28. Even the school I applied for (DBS) now have intake for April which I think they didn't have before so now I will have to differ to April again if January to meet am and this was an advise from the school base on what is happening or I withdraw my application and prepare for September 2026 afresh. Keep mailing your school, they all know what's happening

Please house, does Ireland offer 1-year masters program ? And what is the duration of after study permit given to students when they graduate? Are there available student jobs for survival?

And do you guys take ENGLISH TEST exam (e.g. Toefl, ielts,) for admission or visa purposes?

THANKS

Hi Niceadult

Yes most master courses are for 1 year

Typically you get 2 years post study visa after your studies during which you should be able to find a job that offers sponsorship (critical or general)

Students job are available but it depends on your tenacity and your time management skills to manage both

Yes you have to take English test for both admission and visa purposes.

Thanks for your response. In the area of English test, for someone who took that some years back and gained admission into English taught Bsc program in a Western European university and graduated, and holding such English taught based degree program, do I have to do another English test for M.Sc admission and visa purposes to prove my English skills?

Yes, while some universities would wave it, it’s a requirement for visa application so I suppose it’s best to have it and not require it than not to have it at all.

If you’re thinking about your cost, duolingo English text is the best option

Oh that's good for you then.
At least you have some time.
I live In Ireland and that's the school I attended. So I know quite few things about the school.
I know last year or 2 years ago they started April intake for some programs. I am not sure which programs though.
What program are you coming to DBS to study

Is your school DBS? If yes, the passport picture needed is your normal passport not your Int'l passport.
