Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) arrested three more individuals, including a Nigerian, and a Sudanese national, for their role in smuggling drugs.

Police said the arrests were linked to an ongoing narcotics case involving methamphetamine possession in Vanagaram, bringing the total number of foreign nationals arrested in drug cases since Aug 2024 to 29.

Police arrested Mohant Movia Abdul Rahman of Sudan residing in Bengaluru, and Nazi Lodachukwu Emmanuel, 27, of Nigeria, and seized three mobile phones and 1.41 lakh in cash.

Both were produced before a magistrate.

The arrests add to a series of operations in which city police have so far detained 26 Nigerians, one Cameroonian, and two Sudanese nationals for narcotics offences. "Foreign nationals continue to play a major role in methamphetamine and MDMA supply chains in the city," a senior officer said.

The enforcement action stems from a Sept 18 surveillance operation at Porur tollgate.

ANIU officials said investigations are ongoing to trace other absconding members of the drug network and identify the supply routes used by the cartel
