Our Justice system needs a total overhaul and in dire need of reforms.
Unfortunately we are not a serious country.
Part of the "unseriousness" is that there is no synergy between our politics and governance. In other climes they use politics to change society for the better by making demands of those that stand for office. That is what is called voting for the "right reasons".

They come for your mandate, you tell them it is not for sale, rather what you want is change. If they agree you press further for details and if you are satisfied with their plans and presentations you vote them in and they deliver. If they don't for any reason you vote them out while looking for better, simple.

If we feel it is only government legislation that can change the criminal justice system for the better then let us make it an issue in 2027 if we are SERIOUS.

She committed a crime in the first place, the law should never be baised. It was divine intervention that got her in prison in the first place
What is the name of the crime she committed? And which law states that it is fine to keep the accused in prison for EIGHT months without sentencing them?

All these young girls nowadays should watch their steps. You can't tell me she was just passing by and they arrested her and put her in jail. She committed something even while pregnant. Kudos to the lawyer for being a God sent to her.

But not in nigeria

After a politician has over promised and under performed, nigerians will still vote for him because of either 2k, religion or ethnicity

Nigeria is irredeemable

Politicians have already weaponised the process. We practice cash and carry politics, void of any ideology unfortunately. We don't even know our rights and the power we wield when we come together and join forces. It is just sad and unfortunate.

There is no where in the story where they said she was innocent. He said she was arrested for a misdemeanour.

Can't the judge invoke that section since the plaintiff has not been appearing and also on compassionate ground because of her condition.atleast the judge also savi law now and she is a human being.must it be a lawyer that must raise the issue.
