Has anyone gone for H1B/H4 stamping recently. I am in the US and I am planning on going back to do somethings and then go for my stamping on the 5th of January. I just wanted to know the situation of things as regards that. I heard visa appointments are be rescheduled in us embassies in India. |

Please what company do you guys use in sending packages to Naija and price range. I saw a lot online but don't know who to trust, I have heard complain about GIG too |

Joshpet5674:Listen to Dr Olu asekun podcast of Wed on YouTube. He mentioned the update about H1 and H4 visas being rescheduled so you want to consider your travel plans if appointment would be changed. First 20mins or so is where he typically shares new updates for this administration. He's an immigration lawyer |

Faith063:Depends on cargo service rate per pound which differs per provider and shipping me.thod. Air freight is quite expensive. It's only worth it if your send a number of items. Else you use FedEx or DHL it's a small item. I don't know that GIG does international greight |

Taal17:I only heard about India and china and those are high volume embassies. Just wondering what the situation is in Nigeria as we rarely get up to 80 H1B and h4 approval every month |

Joshpet5674:Try reaching out to Lagos consulate via email. As if your appointment would be rescheduled because you are flying in specifically with your appointment date in mind. It doesn't hurt to try |

Taal17:It actually Abuja and I sent an email to ConsularAbuja@state.gov but got an auto response. It says to use Abuja visa navigator but I can see the option to check if rescheduling might be happening. I wish I could find someone going soon or have gone recently. |

Joshpet5674:Doesn't abuja have its own email like lagosiv and lagossniv ? Or post this question on the US visa thread in case an other H1 visa applicant has interviewed recently |

Taal17:I can’t find another email aside this one. Are you referring to the US Visit Visa thread? Or there is another one called US Visa? |

Please o, does anyone have any idea if this ban will also affect Nigerian permanent residents in Canada? Getting a US visa as a Canadian PR from Nigeria used to be easy, but now idk again |
| Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Helpout12345: 3:50pm On Dec 26, 2025 |
zinachidi:Yes. It should affect it since a Nigerian with Canadian PR usually needs a valid visa to visit the US. |
| Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Taal17: 4:04pm On Dec 26, 2025 |
zinachidi:You would only be able to travel to the US if you already have a US visa dated and valid before Jan 1 2026 |
| Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Okunrimeta: 10:23pm On Dec 26, 2025 |
Why not just wait till you get your CA passport, then travel to US without the need for a visa? Instead of all the hassle...just saying. zinachidi: |

I am a Nigerian coming to Chicago soon. I need an affordable shared apartment around Hyde Park or university of Chicago. I don't want to be stranded. I'm a student too. Can you help me with a recommendation? Thanks |
| Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Taal17: 11:08pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
AngeloX:Check if your university has a Facebook page, students like you would be there. You can ask about accommodation options there. Secondly reach out to student affairs or international students groups by checking on the school website. You might get recommendations there too |
