Hello Country People, Does any one has any experience with Prison Officer Applications? I see lots, and lots of Prison Officer Vacancies and wonder if some within our community have any experience with the job and application and visa granting or not? Thank you very much |

Noworries11:You can't go wrong with a solid electric dehumidifier, I use Meaco Arete one (Recommend by someone on this platform). I've been running it 24/7 during the last 3 winters and it's absolutely amazing. Zero condensation / mould, the laundry dryer function is excellent. Running cost is about £1 daily. You can get some good deals with warranty on Ebay. |

KOVIC19COVID20:Furthermore there is an alternate visa that says that if you been on a skilled worker visa for 2 to 3 years you can migrate to being a prison officer and the visa counts will continue. Finger crossed as we await the outcome for someone i know that is in this process At the moment they are not granting visa's although its something they are actively looking at. Crucially, an alternate visa route exists that allows those with 2 to 3 years on a Skilled Worker visa to migrate to a Prison Officer position, ensuring their visa continuity is preserved. I remain hopeful about the outcome for my acquaintance currently undergoing this process. |

Controlv:How many litres is ideal for a 2 bed? Do you buy one for each of the bedrooms plus living room? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Controlv: 10:19am On Dec 16, 2025 |
Noworries11:I have the 12L for a 2 bed apartment plus a living room, all on one floor. I place it in a central location between the three areas and simply leave the room doors slightly open at night, and it works well. I’ll most likely get a second one when we move to a two-floor property. I think the new version has a smart feature for automatic on and off. |

Hello, mould needs investigation by the Landlord. Dont let them fob it off on you. Its not your fault. They cant also punish you for raising the issue. Remember, only you or a court can end a tenancy. A section 21 by the landlord is only a polite request by the landlord. You can stay past the date so long as you continue paying rent till the court tells you to pack out. You have new rights as a renter in the UK since october 2025. Feast your eyes upon your shiny new rights. This is the difference that a Labour government makes. This is what shelter says about your new rights https://england.shelter.org.uk/support_us/campaigns/renting/renters_rights_act Noworries11: |

Nigerians are enterprising and remarkably resilient. When faced with obstacles, we rarely wait for permission people organise, adapt, and push forward with collective determination. So it’s hardly surprising that the first sector to receive a waiver is one largely dominated by Nigerians and Ghanaians. Ironically, this same level of coordination and problem-solving is often absent in Nigeria itself (Nairaland included). At home, it too often dissolves into noise, infighting, and endless debate. Same people, very different outcomes. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp89p1x26kxo

missjekyll:Lifestyle can cause mould especially during winter and there is nothing the landlord can do to change that. That is why many times when you rent or buy, there is a pack dedicated for mould control. If the issue is due to moisture inside the house, you just need to continue to control it. |

I do not think it is due any pressure from the Nigerians or Ghananians , The government just knew they had f-up and in no time, prison wouldn’t have any officers 😂 Fred2020: |

UK is a country that pretends to be tough on immigration yet surviving on cheap migrant labour, I just had a sit down with a neighbour of mine, a British white woman who works in one of the job centres, do you know you can now claim as much as £71k a year if you have 6kids and know your way around UC and all other benefit agencies? |

Goke7:Saw the new yesterday on Sky and I just dey laugh The healthcare one too will be as bad and I have said it time again that they do not have a coherent policy / plan per immigration and for most things. No expertise, no sense to handling matters, reactionary immigration policies because all they want is to appease their base and blame immigration for everything instead of deploying common-sense tactics and educating the public about the importance of immigration and how immigrants also help the economy. The fixes they need to implement dey stare them for eye like this and removing the 2 child cap proves my point even further. |

Was having a debate with Zahra the other time and her takes were funny like most UK politicians. Here, I was, outlining how best infiltrating the MOD and UK was easier than using electric vehicle speakers and joining other EU countries to make excuses like "national security and spying" when they cant compete. The Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament released their annual report and basically proved my point. Excerpts read -- "The Government told the Committee that its response to this threat is “robust” and “clear-eyed”. However, the External Experts we spoke to were rather less complimentary, concluding that the Government has no strategy on China, let alone an effective one, and that it was singularly failing to deploy a ‘whole-of-state’ approach. there is no evidence that those departments have the necessary resources, expertise or knowledge of the threat to counter China’s approach. The UK is instead playing catch-up and the whole of the Government has its work cut out to understand and counter the threat from China." https://isc.independent.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ISC-Annual-Report-2023%E2%80%932025-Web-Accessible.pdf These politicians do not seem to know what they are doing and it looks like everything is vibes and inshallah with these new age politicians ![]() |

HustlaOfLagos:Like one of us here said some time ago the exit of care workers from the sector after obtaining ilr is their greatest worry especially now that overseas workers entry has been banned reason for the threat of 15 year ilr qualification to keep folks in that sector for as long as possible. Bigotry is terrible, makes you look stupid no matter how you spin it. How you do explain to your people you can’t even find prison workers? Farm workers, care workers, delivery riders thank God bus conductors no exist for this country shortage go dey for that one too 😂 even police officers too they are looking for while patriots sip their beer at home! |

HustlaOfLagos:Lol, you were arguing with me that China does not pose any threat to the UK and it's all UK propaganda, lies etc....yet you are literally quoting a report that references the "threat from China" 🤦! |
