Starting from Jan 2026, students will no longer require PAL..i recently made an application to a school and they sent me a mail with this information...So my advice is that you wait it out, i dont think you will require a PAL especially as u start if Sept 2026... Goodluck!

Neche207:
hi guys, please I need to verify this.
I got an admission for September 2026 last month and I was given a pal this month which is to expire on the 31st of this month, a friend told me that I need to make use of the pal quickly else if it expires without using it, I won’t get another one. Please how true is this for NBCC student because I am still in the preparation process, I am still gathering document and not ready to rush the submission

please i have a question, when applying to schools in canada, do u apply to just one school or multiple for backup??
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 5:07pm On Dec 16, 2025
The exemption is for master’s and doctoral degree students applying to study at public institutions

It depends on the program's competitiveness. Apply to at least two schools for the competitiveness program. You can contact me if you need assistance securing admission

They verify with your school then your school sends the email to you that it was just being verified by ircc. Maybe not all schools sends email to let you know

Hello everyone,

Please, I need advice.

I submitted my passport through VFS Lagos on November 10, and it was received by IRCC on November 11.
So far, my application has not been updated and I have not received any message about passport return. My program is scheduled to begin on January 6, and I’m getting concerned.i have submitted many webform speaking of the delay but the tracker shows they’ve received them . But still nothing

For those who have experienced something similar:
• How long does it usually take for IRCC to update passport details?
• Is this delay normal?
• Is there anything else I should be doing at this point, or should I just keep waiting?

Note : i called vfs but the said it’s with iccc

2. Called ircc they said there is no update yet on my passport but they agreed to receiving it But ircc Ottawa said they can’t give me Much info on my application since it’s made outside Canada

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You’ve done everything right. At this point:

Waiting + school communication is the best move

Stress won’t change IRCC speed (sadly)

Bro I believed I did my best before submitting my documents coupled with help and directions from good hand here on NL.. at this point I leave everything to God . My path is done, his path will be glorified ..
yes you can defer to April but ircc works with school resumption date.. the last I checked.. they said 5weeks via decision but it’s up to them and God at this point.

Just chill..relax and believe your joining your course mates soon .. that’s how I fight anxiety bro

Send a message to IRCC via web form. Use “URGENT” in the first line and explain your situation. It shouldn’t take this long

It is not. You must have tuition fees and living expenses. Living expenses alone are almost 23K CAD.
