Renaming isn't my issues, but it should be done with reasons aside political propaganda.
ie the bearers of such renamed names either alive or dead must have had a vital role to play in human and socio activism to the society for instance;
Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Mr Yakubu Dan Dadi, Mr Ado Wanka, Mr Baushe, John Zuya,
Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman,Emir of Katagum Alhaji Farouk Umar II, Mallam Isa Yuguda, Dr Adamu ,Farid Aminu Hammayo, Mustapha Garba Gadau, Ahmad Muhammad, Hauwa Abdulkadir, Bello Bashir Olasunkanmi, Abdul Mahmud, Dambo and Kokowa undisputed legends, Sunusi Musa, Bukhari Bello MFR or even Late Sa’adu Zungur,and so on....either of the aforementioned are far better than Sheikh Dahiru.
But the ones he's renaming are far from that honor. Very far.

I wonder how Nigerians think, some people have singlehandedly concluded that nothing good comes out from Nigeria.
Do they expect us to bear names like Queens,Harvard, Oxford,Bush and the rest??
Names doesn't matter, what matters is the proficiency of the institutions.
I'm Ibo but I'm not quick to criticism like my fellow Ibos, we have institutions in east renamed after elites and legends so I'm not against that.
But my point is, that the bearers of the names being renamed have no socio and economical impacts to the society.
For instance;
Mr Yakubu Dan Dadi, Mr Ado Wanka, Mr Baushe, John Zuya,
Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman,Emir of Katagum Alhaji Farouk Umar II, Mallam Isa Yuguda, Dr Adamu ,Farid Aminu Hammayo, Mustapha Garba Gadau, Sunusi Musa, Bukhari Bello MFR or even Late Sa’adu Zungur,and so on....either of the aforementioned are far better than Sheikh Dahiru. Far far better than him but I understand, it's all about religion.
The way Tinubu does things most times it jeopardizes his interests honestly, his PAs and SAs should better sit up.

It's not about being confused it all about the proficiency of the institutions.
Renaming institutions can happen in any country but at what structure?
Then for the old national anthem, I think you're wrong, I'm sure about %85 of Nigerians can't even recite that anthem including me, the lawmakers too can't recite that.

When one of our fathers Baba Jakande died, I was of the opinion that LASU would be renamed as Lateef Jakande University to remember one of his numerous legacies in Lagos State and for a memorial because of generations yet unborn. My personal friend is a Professor at LASU. He did his First and Masters Degree at LASU , he told me no Lagosian will agree to that. He said even Jakande Children will not agree to that. I reminded him we have Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education few kilometers away from LASU. He said it is not possible. He now reminded me of an incident several years ago when we met Italian Diplomats, they were very excited to hear we came from Lagos. They told us there is a City in Italy called LAOS and gave us comparison. He also told me his different experiences as Researcher and Consultant to International Organizations. He said Lagos is an African Brand-name. He said Students, Lecturers and Alumni Association would protest any name Change.

All these renaming of Universities and other Tertiary Institutions by politicians should be highly discouraged. You can name stadiums, streets or other monuments after anyone to immortalize him or her but avoid Tertiary Institutions because their identities are linked to academic certificates, researches and other important artefacts associated with the Institutions over the years. Don't disrupt that or create identity crisis because you just want to honour someone.
