(Name and not in person) was a popular doctor that owned one of the biggest private hospitals in Delta state then. I used to pass by the hospital till I got to secondary school then. The hospital is defunct now.


I know the name of the hospital I was given birth to but not the name of the doctor, the location of the hospital or if it still operates till date.

Also in Delta state!

You don’t thank people for doing a job they were paid to do. The doctor was simply doing his job, and he was compensated for it.

Whether you choose to go back and locate him or not is entirely your decision. It doesn’t make you ungrateful in any way.

Courtesy requires you to thank people who do you a favour, not those you paid for a service.

If you hire a painter to paint your house and later run into him a month after, you won’t start appreciating him again for painting your house. You already paid him for the job. At most, you’ll exchange greetings and move on, because you don’t owe him anything beyond the agreed payment.
