So who are the people paying for the sex?

The same poor men who toil night and day to make some money right

So, if the men are that foolish to be spending their earnings on lazy women should that be a cause for national debate?

Is it not the men that are making the money in this harsh economy that are using their hard earned money to do what they enjoy?

If the economy is that bad, where are the men getting the money to spend on the women?

This write up no make any sense to me, cos there's money to be spent on women by men who make the money , so what is the problem

And when I see blanket generalization like this I ask the Op, are your sisters and the women in your family all into this to make you make such a bold generalization
The fact is that the vast majority of women out there are busy and hardworking even the so called Prostitutes
Because Prostitution is a career in advanced countries
Stop using your underdevelopment mentality when making global comparisons
maybe you should be directing this to the OP, not me.

Tinubu for where? Before dem born Tinubu's grandpa, Nkechi, Joy, Ngozi don dey do ashawo job since the 1920's. You see them in all shanties, ghetto and brothels everywhere in the country even when bag of Rice was #15. The Ada and Faith of this world and their delilah offspring initiated almost every tribe in Nigeria into prostitution to the extent that Ghanaians were protesting against them recently. The only way to reduce prostitution in Nigeria is to let some people go.
Obviously, you are a tribalist

. Mutual benefactors who don't get financial compensation or favors from these hardworking men? Are you shitting us or something? 🥱🥱🥱

2. Economical prostitutes? What nonsense is this? 🥱🥱🥱
Are you not aware some women pay for sex through kind and some affluent women demands certain kind of men to warm their beds? Sex where men pay heavily is reserved for the adventurous rich men ! Some men have made life out of hanging out with women of affluence

. Sex is recreational for whom? 🥱🥱

2. Greed? The life they long for can never be achieved, because you would rather the girls offer their bodies, energy, and time up for free to men demanding the service of sex from them, right? undecided
Are u a kid, sex is recreational in some kind of circle and jobs that are stressful and time consuming! What you know isn't the entire length of knowledge therein the subject
Re: There’s A Strange Trend In Nigeria Right Now by Ijaya123: 1:07pm On Jan 03
The ladies are the ones experiencing poverty but the men paying them are not.

Later Una go talk true.

Oh, now, it is no longer that sex is recreational but that it is recreational only in some circles? Worse, you now want us to believe that some jobs are stressful and time consuming? 🤔🤔🤔

2. Are you certain you are not a kid yourself because this response along with your previous are giving just that? 🥱🥱🥱

Kobojunkie:
Nonsense! At their core, all cultures in Nigeria — every tradition/religious notion behind marriage — already have it that women are objects for satisfying the desires and pleasures of men. So, claiming that women finally ensuring that they at least gain real value—money that could go towards their survival and retaining their independence—, as opposed to just the idea of having a man in their lives, from the exchange devalues marriage, is ridiculous... nonsensical at best. 🥱🥱🥱

There are still lots of women out there waiting for men, who are done dealing with oloshos, a culture that did not start today, to come marry them and save them from themselves— even if financial abuse becomes their lot in those marriages. So, let's bury this bullsheet about how those other women who offer sex for cash to men are to blame for the issues that the institution of marriage continues to wrestle with. 🥱🥱
Both of you and the poster are describing different sides of the SAME COIN. As much as i agree with the poster that the sacred institution of marriage has being knocked off its high pedestal, there are still lots of women who are waiting for men to finish dealing with olosho (is it really ever possible with many women willing to be a man's side chick??) and come "save" them from themselves as you say.

Hard working men don't patronize sex workers esp those refered to in this context, most hardworking men have permanent girlfriends and sex partners who are mutual benefactors. Within this context of the writer he's referring to the economical prostitutes- those who bargain with and target high enders to improve their life! No ordinary worker pay attention to those girls, they have a niche and target customers
I agree with you. The point is that men work hard to make the money and it should not be an issue how they chose to spend it, even if it's on Prostitutes and I don't buy the idea that harsh economy pushes hard working women to Prostitution

Marriage is not being knocked off it's pedestal because of the proliferation of hook up girls but rather because marriage itself no longer served the same benefit it used to back when men were on the most considered the breadwinners with greatest access to wealth and resources in society. 🥱🥱

My statement directly attacks OP's argument and can't be construed as attacking different sides of the same coin by this. 🥱🥱🥱

2. From the time of our very forefathers, the majority of men had their virginity taken, not by the wife but by women outside of marriage. The same remains the case to this day. And yes, there are lots of women out there waiting and praying to be married by even those men and so many others available to exist instead as side chicks. 🥱🥱🥱

3. I don't know about saving them from themselves since it ain't like Nigerian men stop olosho-ing after marriage. 🥱🥱

Dressing up to the T in the evenings has nothing to do with poverty. Ladies do it all over the world for many different reasons....work, dates, clubbing, partying, occasions, hanging out, etc. Nighttime is not immediately bedtime for everyone out there, even right there in Nigeria. 🥱🥱
I am talking about the women in this picture. There's what the thread is talking about, prostition, not any of those other things you talked about.

That image is of women in a club scene... not prostitutes. So, many African sources chose to label them prostitutes for obvious reasons. undecided

And yes, African men, including husbands — with wife/wives waiting for them at home in drab cloths— who frequent prostitutes, do take some of them out to clubs, parties, etc., so yes, it makes sense that even those women would need to dress well at night, just like everyone else out there can. undecided

They can pass for women by the roadside. That's what the writer intended them to be. Random pictures can be pulled from the internet for emphasis purposes. Or do you have a personal relationship with anyone of them who affirmed to you that this was a club scene?

Woo! Kobokobo or whatever, this is a new year. Don't stress me with your antagonistic mentality. O ṣe inu ọdun tuntun. No use your reggae spoil my blues.

Any woman, even you, depending on the country we place you in, can pass for a woman on the roadside. Yes, if this were a picture of you walking on the roadside posted for a crowd somewhere in Afghanistan or Sudan, you would be seen as a prostitute too. So stop already! undecided

2. Do you need to have a personal relationship with anyone to stand up for their right to dress and present themselves as they choose so long as they are not breaking any laws? undecided

3. Stop seeing your fellow women are competition in your brain. 🥱🥱🥱

I don't know the picture of me you have conjured in your head. But get this: I'd never be caught wearing those! Never!

Lastly, if you're befuddled about it, ask Nairaland men (the nightcrawlers among them) where they source their prostitutes from, they'll tell you. A club girl isn't so distant from a prostitute!

Many netizens keep saying this. Assuming it is true, it brings me to the question: Why do Igbo ladies dominate the sex work industry?

- The sheer love for money as practiced in the culture
- A liberal culture which promotes independence, liberty and freewill
- Christianity, which offers a room for repentance and forgiveness
YOUR SUBMISSION IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.... THE FUNNIEST PART IS , THE PARENTS OF THESE LITTLE GIRLS ARE AWARE THEY ARE INTO MULTIPLE BOY-FRIENDINISM...... They tottaly lost confidence in themselves being capable of raising funds genuinely
