This is the road linking Bonny Island with Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6_s7Llattg?si=CJKe6P4u5o323_4U
It is a 37.8 km Bodo-Bonny Road.

Before this road was constructed by Tinubu’s Govt, NO ROAD for people of Bonny Island to go out or come to their town - they used boats.

The road has now provided the first-ever land connection to Bonny Island, a major oil and gas hub in Rivers State.

Na Tinubu’s govt do am

1978 – Conceptual Idea
• The idea to connect Bonny Island to the mainland by road was first conceived during the military administration in Rivers State.

2002 – Early Attempt
• An initial effort produced only limited bridge work and stalled without meaningful progress.

2014 – Formal Contract Award
• The Federal Government awarded the Bodo–Bonny Road contract to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

2017 – Project Revival & Construction Begins
• A tripartite funding arrangement involving the Federal Government, Nigeria LNG (NLNG), and Julius Berger was signed.
• Full construction commenced, including major bridges across creeks and swampy terrain.

2019–2021 – Delays and Cost Review
• Engineering complexity, funding gaps, inflation, and design changes caused delays.
• Project cost was reviewed upward.

2022 – Community-Related Interruptions
• Local grievances over engagement and naming issues briefly disrupted construction.

2023 – Inflation & FX Crisis
• Severe inflation and foreign exchange pressures slowed work and triggered renegotiations.

2024 – Funding Approval & Restart
• Federal Executive Council approved a significant cost increase.
• Construction resumed at full pace.

December 2025 – Temporary Opening
• The road was officially opened to light vehicles only, marking a historic breakthrough after decades of isolation.

2026 (Target) – Full Completion
• Final works and unrestricted access (including heavy trucks) expected upon completion.

One lamba king who changes political party like a premier league player during transfer window will be wondering in his mind if the money was not better shared as peanut rather than be used for development. Such is that guy's level of thinking.

Exactly. Buhari started that project and took it to 90% completion. Tinubu came on, did road markings on it and counted it as one of his renewed hope achievements.

No just worry yourself with the tears from wailers and Bitter Obidients. We thought Tinubu abandoned old roads and was only building new ones. You can see those election losers changing their mouths now. This is how Tinubu will continue to embarrass them and increase their blood pressure.

Lol,
Is this bitterness or something, them do road, smile and move on which one be all this long talk.

Before you start yapping, I don't support any party, not interested in Nigerian politics and I don't even have a voters card and never will.

On the other hand, I heard Bonny is beautiful, Serene, great weather and aesthetics, would love to visit

And why cannot the road be used then under Buhari?

Ungrateful elements.

Your PDP in 16 years even under Jonathan cannot do it.

Kudos to APC govt for this laudable project and especially to Bola Tinubu govt that is completing it.

And no Buhari's minister could come out to say otherwise?

Why don't you show us the evidence of the 90% completion of the road before Tinubu started the markings?

Again, Tinubu will be your president for 8yrs..... You either enjoy his regime or criticize it as you want.... Doesn't change his good personality...

I see one laptop boy up there claiming that Tinubu built that road 😂
The construction of that road has been going on since and was almost completed before Tinubu came.
It is a road that was constructed on a difficult terrain
