Purify Your Intention — Make Every Action Sincere For Allāh Alone! by Rashduct4luv(op):
Today is Yawmul Jumuah (Friday), 19th of RAJAB 1447Hijriyyah.
19 - 07 - 1447AH = 09-01-2026 - Ramadan is about 40 days away!

Purify Your Intention — Make Every Action Sincere for Allāh alone and Attain the Highest Reward!

Our deeds are judged by what is in the heart. True value belongs to actions that are done purely for the sake of Allāh. As the Qur’ān and the Sunnah teach, sincerity (ikhlās) is the condition for acceptance and the key to immense reward and protection from spiritual harm.

Foundations from Qur’ān and Sunnah
Allah says in the Qur’ān as the words of Ibraham (alayhi salam): “Say: Indeed my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allāh, Lord of the worlds…” (al‑Anʿām 6:162–163). This is the principle of a life devoted to Allāh alone.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Actions are only by intentions…” (Sahīh al‑Bukhārī). This hadith places the niyyah at the heart of every deed and is the foundation for seeking ikhlās.

Why Ikhlās (sincerity) Matters!
Acceptance: Allāh does not accept deeds except those done sincerely for Him. A deed done for people’s praise is deprived of its true value. (An‑Nasa’īwink

Intention determines reward: The reward can be enormous even when a person cannot perform the outward act, if the intention is sincere (e.g., those who longed to join Tabūk were rewarded for their intention). The Qur’ān recounts the companions who stayed in Madīnah and shared the reward by virtue of their sincere intention (Qur’ān 9:92).

The angels note intentions: Allāh rewards the intention even if the action is not completed, and forgives a sinful intention if not acted upon. When one refrains from a sin for Allāh’s sake, that restraint itself is recorded as a good. (Muslimwink

Eternal consequence: People will be raised and recompensed according to what was in their hearts; the permanence of Paradise or Hell is linked to one’s abiding intention and inner direction.

Examples and Warnings
The Prophet’s illustration of four types of people (scholar with wealth, scholar without wealth, wealthy sinner, poor evil‑intender) shows how actions and intentions produce equal weight in recompense or sin depending on what is in the heart. Strive to be of the first two types.

The Tabūk episode: Those unable to join the campaign because of lack of means wept over their inability; Allāh counted their sincere intention as participation. This demonstrates Allāh’s mercy towards sincere hearts. (Qur’ān 9:92wink

What is appropriate is making sincerity a constant practice until one’s final breath — renewing niyyah, avoiding riya’ (showing off), and linking intention with correct methodology (Sunnah and Qur’ān).

Practical Steps to Purify and Preserve Ikhlās
-Renew your niyyah prior to every act — state in your heart “for Allāh alone.”
-Remember the last day and the grave often — accountancy before Allāh keeps the heart oriented inward.
-Seek knowledge and the correct method (following the Prophet ﷺ and the Salaf) so acts are sound and free from innovation that appeals to people.
-Avoid publicising good deeds with the intent to gain praise; if a deed must be public for benefit, set the intention purely for Allāh and the communal good.
-Make duʿā for ikhlās and accept correction — ikhlās is a gift from Allāh and should be sought in prayer. (Khutbah and article counsel.)
-Use the “two measures” after actions: privately review your intention and publicly remain modest — let Allāh be the witness you seek.

Short Reminders
“Actions are judged by intentions; make them for Allāh alone.” (Hadith summarywink
“A sincere intention is rewarded even when the outward action cannot be performed.” (Illustrated by the Tabūk example.)
“Maintain sincerity until death — renew, repent, and purify constantly.”

Duʿā
O Allāh, make our deeds sincere for Your Face, purify our hearts from riya’, accept from us, and make us among those who die upon ikhlās. Ameen.
