Do  you live in Winnipeg? If you do, why not enlighten/educate us about the place?! Or are you waiting for those who live there to talk about the place? Anyone living in Winnipeg, please enlighten us about the place. I hear its a very cold place.

Winnipeg is the capital city of the province of Manitoba....I reall can't tell the size but the population of the city is not up to a million. It is known for its cold winter ( people survive it though). It is a city with so much opportunities because it is a developing city....the secret to surviving the cold is to always dress warm and stay indoor as much as possible in winter. In summer, it is sometimes even hotter than Lagos....

Re: Nigerians In Winnipeg Canada by Nobody: 7:33pm On Jul 17, 2013
hello funyem, uofw doesn't have anything like acceptance fee, all you need to do is pay the $100 application fee. and for the sponsorship, you have to answer this simple question by yourself to determine if the company you work for would be able to sponsor you or not, the question goes thus: what would be your company's gain for sponsoring your study abroad? if you are able to answer this then we can take it from your answer

Re: Nigerians In Winnipeg Canada by Nobody: 5:54am On Jul 19, 2013
based on the ranking MUN comes before UOFW and MUN is cheaper compared to UOFW, i don't really know much about MUN, but for UOFW, if you like a very small school i think UOFW is the right choice for you.

hello all, I really need an urgent reply. is it better to use an agency for visa application or u can just go on your own and make it on time, especially as am resuming in jan 2015
Re: Nigerians In Winnipeg Canada by Nobody: 1:51pm On Nov 19, 2014
Using an agent doesnt reduce the waiting time. Get info from their website and the thread on canada student visa here on nairaland, then go ahead and apply.

The truth is it's not very easy to get nominate someone unless it's someone you know and trust. There are conditions attached to nomination and if the person you sponsor defaults, there is repercussions on the sponsor. For example the sponsored person must be prepared to stay in Manitoba for at least 3 years. If they move away during that time they won't be able to sponsor anyone again. What about the financial implication?. If the person sponsored applies for welfare for any reason, the person who sponsored is going to pay the government back because you signed an undertaking to take care of their needs till they are settled.
It's not like people don't want to help, but everyone is just scared of what could possibly go wrong.
I pray you find someone who is wiling to help you guys.

Thanks so much for the response.

I am quite aware of how some Nigerians must have abused trust. However, we still have good and trustworthy Nigerians who will not default in any way. But my questions are:

1. Is it possible then to get a known legal practitioner in Manitoba or Nigeria who can document any dealing btw us and the family willing to Nominate so as to avoid breach of agreement?
3. Can we also get a family/ or an individual who wldnt mind to be paid for the service of nomination?
2. Planning to come to Canada with ones wife and kids requires financial preparation and commitment cos one is leaving certainty for uncertainty . but den before one finish spending the saved money. like how soon can a professional regulated skilled migrant get a good job in Manitoba? so dat d issue of applying for welfare doesn't even come to mind at all. Thanks expecting ur response soon.
