Then why are you acting like the club is broke?
The initial comparison was with City and i highlighted why we shouldnt compare with them - they have CL money to spend and are also partaking in more competitions this season.

Is Ugarte better than Fred?

If you can't answer, then please don't mention me again because I won't bother answering you anymore
Now na only Fred, McTomminay no follow? Small small, we are getting somewhere grin grin

Oya answer me, is it same Ugarte u were referring to below or another one?

odizeey:

The overall discussion is seriousness in doing business. Closing holes ASAP. They didn't just buy those Trafford and Donaruma for fun. Our glaring Midfield issue, what are they doing about it? What about full backs?

We need reinforcements on the wings as well but at this moment the midfield is more important. It’s astounding how that point flew over your head.
It is you that failed to understand simple, concise English.

A Holistic approach should be adopted to address the needs of the team such that we wouldnt strengthen one area and start crying mid season about another department - same way we have been doing on these pages year in year out!

When we were playing CL and had CL money, how may players did we buy per season? Is it not the same 2/3 major incomings heavy laden with hype and a tad overpaid for?

Leyqute:
Have you plugged the hole in midfield since SAF left?
See list of midfielders (including attacking) we have bought since Ferguson retired. Most of these guys were the best in their respective clubs.

Defensive / Holding / Deep
• Marouane Fellaini
• Morgan Schneiderlin
• Bastian Schweinsteiger
• Nemanja Matić
• Casemiro
• Sofyan Amrabat (loan → later permanent context-dependent)

Box-to-Box
• Ander Herrera
• Paul Pogba
• Fred
• Mason Mount
• Marcel Sabitzer (loan)

Attacking / Creative
• Juan Mata
• Henrikh Mkhitaryan
• Bruno Fernandes
• Christian Eriksen
• Donny van de Beek

Also adding Academy players:
• Jesse Lingard – attacking midfielder
• Scott McTominay – box-to-box / defensive
• Kobbie Mainoo – central / box-to-box (key modern starter)
• Andreas Pereira – attacking / central
• James Garner – defensive / deep-lying
• Hannibal Mejbri – box-to-box
• Zidane Iqbal – central midfielder

if these guys don't want to spend money, they should, for sake of everything that is good; put the club on the market.

we cannot continue to expect magic and keep blaming coaches at every turn.

See the list above. So until we sign 5 midfielders at once?

Top 4-6 this season, same next season and one of the cups.
We're on course to achieving top 6 already. All we needed to do was to stop conceding some of those easily avoidable goals that were against the run of play. Those goals that stopped us from winning against the likes of Wolves, Burnley etc

The reason(s) for the failures is not what is being discussed here.

You tell us how we have compared with city in terms of spend over the last 3-4 seasons

You know what I’m talking about. You’re just doing strong head.

The difference in quality between our current midfielders and what we aspire to is quite wide… compared with the wings.

Safe to say, we’re sorted on the right wing. Left wing, what’s the difference between Cunha and Semenyo? Compare that with the difference between Mainoo, Urgarte and someone like Baleba or whoever you think will be competent enough for us.

Leyqute:
That one na yes man now. That’s what he’s expected to say.

Meanwhile, transfer window will soon close and we won’t strengthen that midfield in any manner this January.
They should do and bring the next manager fast to start performing his magic

Jack Fletcher is there. He can partner Mainoo in the midfield. That's the dream United DNA

But that’s my point no, we don’t need to change players to qualify for European football. And we can build from there in the summer. This team needs ginger. If you like, sign 5 more players this month, they will come here and become ‘dross’.

The day this starts happening consistently home or away is the day we become a consistent top 4 team again and not all that "we thank God we beat Liverpool games". To challenge for league from there will be a matter of 1 or 2 key signings.

But no matter who the manager is, that's never going to happen when we are still parading Dalot, Dorgu, Shaw, Ugarte and co
I align with you. No be all these oriyomi draws and wins against top teams that the fans will be masturbating about
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 9:04pm On Jan 11
We should play Mbeumo on the LW, Amad RW, Bruno at the 10 for the next few games. Cunha needs to hug the bench tight for a while until he realises that the players wearing his colour of jersey are there to receive passes.

You are the one doing strong head, despite my clear submission of a concise and holistic approach to addressing the pressing needs of the team.

We are tired of the constantly evolving requirements of the team midseason that always seem to be urgent whenever they manifest.

We cant be going from;

Leyqute:
Claiming aerial balls as well, but that’s not as important as distribution.

Onana is outstanding in passing ability and distribution. No top team has a keeper who can’t distribute.

De Gea has better reflexes and shot stopping ability. Onana isn’t very much behind him in that regard but you can make the argument that there’s still a difference.
To;

Leyqute:
Who else is tired of Onana’s useless long balls? Man will romance the ball for 5 minutes and then punt a long ball to no one.

It’s tiring mehn.
For the umpteenth time, we are tired of changing mouth

Sign the 5 players first. Not every player signed by other teams end up meeting expectations. You bin them after a season or two if they don't meet expectations.

We bought jambody Fellaini from Everton to come and comtrol our midfield.
Morgan Schneiderlin no get liver to play for top club.
Bastian was practically finished when we bought him.
Chelsea fans were already calling Nemanja bag of beans before we splashed 40m on him. And he wasn’t that bad sef.
Casemiro was an expensive signing that only had 2 years left at the top level.
The less spoken about Amrabat, the better.

Of these lot, Pogba and Bruno are the only ones worthy to start in Man Utd at the moment they were bought.

You even listed Scott McTom as if he was a good passer of the ball. His best atttibutr was crashing the box and that’s it. And what does key modern starter mean? 😭 😭 The same Kobbie we saw today and against Grimsby? The best for that kid is to keep getting sub minutes until he’s up to speed. He should not be a starter I’m sorry.

In a team requiring competent starters, we’re parading squad options. And we want to compete with top teams.

Did they not sign 4-5 players last summer for Amorim? What about the transfer window before that? Abegi, we can use this squad to get European football. No let Amorim confuse una with the 15th position finish last season.

Changing the manager is one of the things to do.

Another thing to do is improving our scouting, player identification and general assessment of players.

The scouting of some of these average players might make a lot of sense to a fan who has his own job to do but watches Man United weekly and checks YouTube highlights of a player or watches the player a couple of times a season. Very importantly, it is not the fan’s duty to assess the player.

When we keep buying players that appear not good enough then it is reasonable to ask for more from the staff members whose job it is to study and analyse these players for days, weeks, months before we decide to buy them and the staff whose job it is to approve the deals.

I don’t get what you don’t understand about us improving our assessment of players in addition to changing underperforming managers. We can do both at the same time. It is not an either or issue.
For me, I think we need to first decide if we want to sign players to fit into what a coach wants or the designated system the club intends to adopt in the long run. Looking at Cunha and Mbeumo, they do not look like out and out wingers rather inverted forwards, their signings favors the systems Amorim plays but in a 4-3-3, I don't think they'll be that effective (Mbeumo can still do a job though)...

Why didn’t City fold their arms after that Rodri injury and expect Pep to use Kovacic and Kalvin Phillips to turn their consecutive losses into wins?

Why did they go all out that January and buy Nico Gonzalez and co?

James Trafford. Outstanding young goalie with a bright future. After 2-3 games Pep was not convinced by him and they immediately bought Donnaruma. Combined 60m on GK department. In one TW.
