Lagos State govt. texted my uncle with an over-speeding fine. We were arguing who drove that night so the person can chest the fine.

Ladies and Gentlemen, there was an irrefutable evidence on their site.

Didnt get any SMS. It was when I wanted to renew my papers that I got to know. Portal showed overpseeding around 1:59am. No other details. I knew It definitely wasnt me cos I avoid night driving cos of visibility. I contested it and thankfully it was knocked off

Yes, two images were made available on their site when you punch in your car plates to pay the fine. One dark image that shows your plate and another clear photo that shows the car fully and you during the violation.

My first experience with it, I never heard anything related before, we were traveling to Aflao from Ghana and along the way, we were stopped for over speeding, it was initially funny when they said as we were like, how are you going to prove it, before we know, they just show us hand speed meter that reads our speed limit. I am talking of over a decade ago

I genuinely hope this applies to korope and danfo buses.

But anyways, the "rich" or the ones pretending to he rich suffer the most in nigeria

Come to my city where over speeding caught on camera could attract between 400k (naira) to 4million (naira), depending on the road, or whether you beat signal lights, wrong lane. Where wrong parking could attract minimum of 200k naira. In addition, your license could be suspended, point deducted, your vehicle impounded, jailed for up to 1 month or both (you and the vehicle)

You say? this is where the whole thing has extortions signature all over it, although it should be a good policy. on the same route, someone was booked 50k at 61km/hr, just 1km/hr above the limit. This could have happened in less than 5secs of eyes off the speedometer

But 6km is not considered a crime. he can get a warning.
