Just living for living sake
Re: Clocked 48 Today , Still Living With My Parents by Obiedun(m): 7:55am On Jan 15
Say more about yourself so that people may assist you. Let people know about your academic qualifications, your skills, abilities and where the problem is. For you to be living with your parents at age 48 then many things are wrong

You’re clearly comfortable. It’s really hard to grow in comfort

Nairalanders, over to you. Please assist him. But for the spiritual matter, if you are a Christian, look for a true delivance minister and if you are a Muslim a true alfa. But the truth of the matter is that it's not easy to see a true minister of God. That doesn't mean we don't have.

Nothing spiritual it is just failure to launch. You have grown too comfortable in your comfort zone and your parents has enabled you as well. You have to start with getting any job forget about your qualification get a job save money then move out. Even if you are drinking garri in a day you knowing that when you get home its you and just you alone would increase your urge to change your situation. And please don't get married forget about that for now because it might sound sweet at the beginning but the longer you can't provide the more your wife would start disrespecting you which would lead to more emotional trauma. Move out first!

It's here in Nigeria you think staying in your parents house is backwardness. Indians stay longer in their parents house mostly as a sense of mutual support and obligation.

Don't pressure yourself too much. If you want to move out, save towards it.

this is where the problem lies......

Once a man begins to believe his problems and misfortunes are spiritual,I just shake my head....

That's how people used to tell me about two years ago......But today now, even tho I'm not where I ought to be but at least I'm doing far better than what I used to be,even without doing any so-called spiritual cleansing or whatsoever angry

Bro,your problem is simply comfort...... You're just too comfortable and you feel like going out there to sort your life ain't worth it,after all,you have got parents who're Willing to provide all your basic needs for you..

Nothing spiritual here,na just mental illness dey worry you.

Are you sure your parents aren't the problem?

Your parents may like you at home and may not be doing enough to push you out.

They may seem caring, or worried but may still not be doing enough to get you out.

There was a story in the Bible. It was a king who was asked to shoot many arrows. Each shot arrow meant a defeat of an any nation. The king shot only 3 arrows. This annoyed the prophet with who said he should have shot like 6 arrows to ensure the complete very over the enemy nation.

Your parents may shoot 3 arrows and not 6. Enough arrows to seem that are doing something but not enough to ensure victory for you.

Have you brought a lady home before? Do you currently have a fiance? Do they know anything about your romance life?

Or do they urge you to wait until you're financially secure? You don't have to be financially secure before you have someone at your age.

Please respond. I will know what to say from there

In my own village, there is a saying that, 'To get wisdom at latter part of one's ife is not too bad but to become foolish at later part of life is the worst' What they are trying to say here that it's not too late to start no matter your age . But to begin to go backwards is the worst.

Another advise I can give you now is that many private schools are looking for teachers. Take out your certificate start moving around look for private schools. I am sure you will be employed. Start from somewhere. The salary may be small but start from the that one. I can't adide you to apply for driving job at your age.

What you are saying is very wrong. If I should be your father and you are telling me that in India you can live with your parents at age 48, I will call for your spiritual cleansing. For what you just wrote now, I can say it takes a man looking for a cash out to know another one.
Good day.

You see in this life, success is not only about hardwork, neither is it spiritual… it’s simple logic…as long as you have the hunger to succeed and the discipline, you need only 3 things

- money
- money
- money

I bet you, even your friends and village people will identify with you, no bad luck or evil spirit is holding a man back rather than

Poverty of the mind
Lack of connection

A man that has little money and connections will go far in life.

Since you don’t have little money, start building connections, use one full year to do that, you’ll start reaping the fruits from next year, and perhaps you’ll recover quickly all you lost these past years

You know, platitude always rolls off well on paper. Unfortunately, platitude doesn't work anywhere else but on paper. It takes years of hard work, angst, toil and repeated trials/failures to get the wisdom that is supposed to come with age. At the age of 48 it is already too late.

Let me give you an example:

Academic:
Your goal is to obtain a Ph.D. You spent 10 years failing class after class of a first certificate, eventually, somehow, managing to obtain such. Your masters degree was even more challenging and you eventually are not able to complete it. At this point, you are about 36 years. You lie fallow for another 12 years or so and one beautiful morning you wake up and decide that you are going to complete that Ph.D that you so longed for. Your platitude will have you believing that this is a rational pursuit(i.e. "nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it", "it is never too late to succeed, grow wisdom, whatever, whatever"wink. While such words of encouragement might sound good to the ear, the decision to pursue a Ph.D at 48 with no fortification that you should have developed in your younger and more able years is nothing more than a foolishness.

Business:
You start a business at say, 21 years of age. Business is going well and you are determined to be a billionaire by the time you hit 40. The secrets to success is really quite accessible but most guys lack the discipline to do what is necessary. You should be saving up your money and building more businesses but instead you burn any money that you make on beer and ashawo, investing ridiculous sums of money on used evening newspapers while your destiny slowly disappears in front of you. Come to 27 years later, you are now 48, the business that you started when you were 21 is not doing so well anymore, and because you were tending to ashawo and beer instead of building new businesses and connections that will help you along the line, you find yourself trapped. One beautiful morning you wake up, and decide that you want to achieve that old dream of becoming a billionaire. Your platitude will have you believing that this is a rational pursuit(i.e. "nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it", "it is never too late to succeed, grow wisdom, whatever, whatever"wink. While such words of encouragement might sound good to the ear, the only thing that is real is the trap that you find yourself in. The time that you should have used to build the foundations that will help you to achieve your billionaire dreams has passed and (save for winning naija-bet or some such) you will never touch 1 billion Naira in the remainder of your life.

Summary:
Platitude, like tales by the moon-light is always comforting to listen to, but believe them at your own risk.
