MRTA7:Very suspect decision. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 11:19am On Jan 18 |
akwesenana:My theory. They were going to sack him at the end of the season or after the world cup when managers became available. That is why they decided not to get him more players for his 3-4-3 this January. He went to meet Wilcox to get him more help to implement his formation and that one said no that he should work with what he has. Amorim read the writing on the wall and spazzed out. They quickly decided to sack him since they already knew he was going in the summer anyway and the compensation money was already in their budget. You are still right though that it is not yet Uhuru. These guys seem to be fond of making decisions and changing their minds soon after. |

MRTA7:Let us see what they do this summer. Christopher Vivell has a good reputation. I think the first thing is to remove Berrada from football matters. Let him deal only with the business side of things. |

maik99:You are preaching to the choir. I want them sold too. But in a team that struggels to buy or sell players, selling all of them at once is not feasible |

patrickmuf:Read this many times, still confused. What are you comparing with Amorim's set up exactly? We started playing 343 last season. What was it like playing against the likes of LFC and City in the last couple of years when we didn't play 343? Do you remember the formation we played when we were thoroughly beaten in recent years? I am seriously hoping it's not the case of the players being extra pumped for the game based on the opponent, and that they will approach all games same way. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 12:50pm On Jan 18 |
Spurs fans are crashing out over the haram football Thomas Frank is giving them. We have to be extra careful with our next manager. Many of these managers who seem to be overachieving in small clubs are suspect and are not built for the limelight. |

eph12:If you can, watch the game again, you'd notice that Bruno was very disciplined in terms of his positioning on the pitch, it was not the Bruno that we used to see everywhere on the pitch. This alone is a big tactical approach. Mainoo and Casemiro didn't push forward unnecessarily meaning that Foden and Bernado Silva had very little space to operate. Also, Dalot and Shaw did not allow Dorgu and Semenyo the space they needed to whip in crosses. All this meant Haaland was a passenger for the entirety of the game. If you remember Carrick as a player, you'd know he was one of the most disciplined players when it came to positional discipline...In the whole, the setup brought out the best in our players... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 1:37pm On Jan 18 |
patrickmuf:That's good. But this sounds like something we have heard before, then the players go back to default settings immediately we play against smaller teams. The urge to be more physical, run extra, cover more ground, attack games with extra passion, suddenly disappears. Carrick greatest contribution will be his ability to make the players do these things every game, from the start, not some formation nonsense. Because these guys have shown to lose that discipline easily, whether under Amorim, ETH, Ole, or anyone you want to mention. If Carrick can get them to attack every game like their lives depend on it, that will be the game changer. Fingers crossed |

afrodoc2:Also the centre backs where confused alot in his system. They didn't know when to step up or when to stay. The mid CB In a 3ATB system is suppose to step up and act as a 3rd midfielder. Which begged the question, why not just play an extra midfielder. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 3:16pm On Jan 18 |
ovoP:Maybe he can only coach that formation. Or he believes he can only coach that system. He obviously didn't trust himself to succeed with any other formation. We sha should stop these disjointed appointments. Coach and player styles should be in sync. |

Lana1:Sell Ugarte, we can recoup something for him now. Get Anderson plus 1 more CM. I think Ruben Neves is even free in the Summer I think Lacey will mature at a rate that will surprise many next season, we need to add a LW. Dalot can stay as long as he is 2nd choice. I think we need an experienced striker on a low fee or free. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by CapitalCee(m): 3:43pm On Jan 18 |
eph12:We wil spend heavy on the midfield. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by CapitalCee(m): 3:50pm On Jan 18 |
Mrviktor:I understand your reservations about him, and its justified at times, but he is a young player that just came from relagation battlers in Seria A. With the right coaching he will be a monster. We are looking at something closer to Nuno Mendes. I am for allowing young players to thrive low key without pressure until they reach like 24ish, thats when their true potentials show. Ofcourse there are outliers but those ones are very few and rare, and even in many cases taper out before they reach 28. Look at Delle Alli, Rooney(I am very harsh here though), Rashford, Owen etc |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by BARAJ92(m): 4:27pm On Jan 18 |
eph12:We also need a striker that can put fear in the mind of the opposition. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dreamxhaser: 5:20pm On Jan 18 |
Honestly, we can’t pinpoint if it’s the formation or just the players trying to put on a "one-time show" before reverting to their default mode. We will only be able to tell over the next two matches. Personally, I will keep United in my prayers because a lot of rival fans are waiting to say, "I told you so." We played well against Arsenal at the beginning of the season under Amorim, despite his "dysfunctional" formation. The only thing helping me stay positive is Sir Alex Ferguson’s reaction. From his expression, you can tell he saw something we didn't. According to Gary Neville, the way the boys played was similar to the style used during the SAF era. He seemed happy that they proved a lot of people wrong—specifically those who claimed that style of play can’t work in modern football. Well, fingers crossed. |

I just watch a lengthy highlights of yesterday game, and United DNA was clear to see. Thunder will fire the board if they don't bring in a Manager that plays quick transition counter attacking football. If Carrick get us CL football playing that beautiful football, they he should remain as interim Manager till further notice... https://x.com/MKBALL10/status/2012542036742733876?s=20 |

TrebleChamp: Carrick:Hopefully, he is able to focus and steer us to a decent finish in the league. I read an article about how clubs at the top level appear to be shifting away from the old‑school, all‑powerful manager model. The modern trend is to appoint head coaches with defined, limited responsibilities while the broader sporting direction sits with executives, analysts, and recruitment departments. Even Arteta was first employed as a head coach before his managerial "promotion". Only the truly elite names — the Peps and Klopps of the world — are guaranteed full managerial authority. In that context, Carrick’s temperament might work in his favour. His calm, collaborative personality fits perfectly with what big clubs now want: a coach who can work within a structure rather than dominate it. If he performs well and develops players during his short tenure, he becomes exactly the type of low‑ego, high‑competence head coach top clubs seem to prefer nowadays. Lets see how it pans out. |

Bombblacks:I am not getting ahead of myself bro, just happy we played the best football i have seen in years. United is a quick transition counter-attacking team, that is our DNA, that is what made us a very successful club. No more rubbish play out from the back or possession football nonsense, the board should only go for a Manager that plays the above formation and can easily switch between 4231 to 433.. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 8:19pm On Jan 18 |
Jamiuokolaa:The bolded has been Real Madrid model for years and it works for them, their board decides which players they sign and the coach must use them to win trophies. I love how we dominated the game plus how the useless Mainoo bosses the world class Rodri in midfield, how our players were making quick one touch passes rather than holding too long to the ball. The performance was absolutely mind blowing. The Assnal game will further show if the team can play the style consistently and confidently, i will also like to see how Carrick set up against low bloke teams... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Mrviktor(m): 8:31pm On Jan 18 |
CapitalCee:All the players you mentioned are not flops in anyway. And they all had world class runs. Except dele. Yes dorgu is young and raw. But we need established names not everytime young raw talents |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Mrviktor(m): 8:33pm On Jan 18 |
I'm just happy. We can drop into a 5 man block. When we score teams 1-0 now . Carrick should coach the most disgusting haram ball ever known to man.. Low block + fast counter. Like that first goal |

Trevor012:lt has everything to do with Amorim whether directly or indirectly .ls coach formation or tactical approach that will determine players given to him.He might not be involved in scouting but his input sometimes will definitely be needed. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jamiuokolaa: 8:47pm On Jan 18 |
TrebleChamp:I think this is what most peeps are waiting for because Carrick would most likely retain the same setup vs Arsenal. I am not sure i would be too bothered about our performance/outcome of that match sha. Vs low block teams, Dorgu’s role might become the tactical tell for Carrick’s entire structure. It may reveal how Carrick intends to use Cunha, Mount and Šeško and should also signal the attacking zones Mbeumo and Amad will occupy. I think Case and Maino + Bruno would be the preferred choice in Midfield. There are numerous situations that i would also like to see i.e the approach and reaction when we concede first etc but I guess we just need to take it one game at a time. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 6:53am On Jan 19 |
We should just bring Garner back home on a free transfer and buy another quality midfielder. That will free up money for the LW and other positions. |
