I proposed to my wife, sitting. Sitting or standing while proposing to a woman does not in any way show or represent masculinity or narcissism. That man proposed to a woman on a bended knee doesn't mean he would make a good husband. I do not know who started the trend of a man proposing marriage to a woman on a bended knee, but I am not raising my only son to do that. In ancient times, bended knee represented surrender, submission, fear or cowardice.
