Now, this is childish. They must give you the name of the individual products that was exported? I am sure you will not get that in a news article. Perhaps you can contact the relevant government agency if you must really know.
Yes, why shouldn't they?

How do we know what Nigeria is exporting the most outside oil and gas?

That's the problem with you people, you people hate being detailed, because once there is details it fights propaganda and lies and gives little to no room for manipulations and twisting of facts which is you people's stock in trade.

And that's partly why Nigeria is where it is today...

Most Nigerians are totally ignorant and clueless, and always eager to praise the govt for no work done.
If a farmer or businessman should export ginger or garlic to Europe and earn forex, why should you give credit or praise to a govt that might have played no role in helping the farmer or businessman?
That is exactly how it is done in all advanced and not so advanced economies. It is not the business of the government to export ginger or garlic.
The business of the government is to provide an enabling environment to make it worthwhile for the businessman and by extension to the country.

If this is not another balablu propaganda Tinubu lie, then why is he borrowing more than PDP presidents who gave us widespread prosperity with high employment for 16 years?

PDP prosperity based on deregulation and privatisation policies.

Look at this one. Where do you expect non oil export to have come from if not from private sector?

What business does government have in business? It just have to provide enabling environment for private sector to thrive and that's what is happening here.

Can anyone deny the fact that our balance of trade has been favourable since last quarter of 2024? Pls, let's be factual and stop this misinformation.

I advise you remove hatred from your analysis in order for others to benefit from your contribution.

When the government is not in business that means the government does not make as much money as it is meant to make and then the government pushes its own burden of not making enough money on to its citizens through taxation.

Do you think this is why your Tinubu made him finance minister after working with him in Lagos as finance commissioner, when they raised IGR and budget but failed to employ well paid workers for the provision of commensurate basic services and utilities?

Nemere2020:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

THANK YOU.

THIS IS THE KEY TO NIGERIA'S ADVANCEMENT.

NON-OIL EXPORTS.

NON-OIL EXPORTS.

NON-OIL EXPORTS.

Our current annual budget is $40 billion.

Compare that to South Africa's $120 billion.

The oil and gas revenues are insufficient for 250 million people.

ONLY DIVERSIFICATION away from oil and gas will solve this.

Once we can keep growing NON-OIL EXPORTS, this nation will transform.

Kudos to all responsible for this beautiful news this morning. smiley

I would have preferred at least a 20-25% year on year increase.

It is that type of sustained increase that transforms economies in a generation.

South Korea enjoyed a 40% year on year increase from 1962-1972.
Was that the period that South Koreans applauded governors and FCT ministers who failed to provide free education for all children, in schools with adequate number of well paid teachers huh

Sounds good ... but who is doing all this exporting? How much of this is by Nigerians or Nigerian businesses? How much of this billions goes into our treasury? Why do we have to be borrowing...taking loans to meet our budget? Burkina Faso and Niger were also exporting billions of dollars of diversified products ...but almost all the money went to France while the masses lived in poverty. With this our record increase in diversified exports worth billions ...are our lives getting better? Instead of singing praises we should be asking where is the money.
Sir,look for something of value to export even services or personal skills and earn.....I am in logistics business and I am active in the value chain.....people are making loads of money from export.....

If you own business A

and your business A makes ₦80b annually in profits

Govt takes 30% of ₦80b in taxes that business A makes which is ₦24b.

Your business A ₦80b - ₦24b that govt takes is ₦56b.

Your net profit is ₦56b.

Between your business A ₦56b and govt taxes of ₦24b who still has more money between you and the government?

So, if you export Cashew, will the govt collect the proceeds? Proceeds from export belongs to individuals or companies that exported the products! Government can only collect taxes on the export. Note that the figure here is the value of the export, not the tax collected on exports.

The export was mainly from the INFORMAL SECTOR...as indicated by the statistics of the CBN...what this means is that, The major export of the government is OIL...I was expecting to hear that non oil export was from the government... The monies from non oil export go into the pockets of individuals who carry out the export... before some of you ask stupid questions, know that every foreign income must pass through the CBN, that's why they were able to track and have the statisui...but unfortunately, the non oil export are from private individuals and not the government...the government is happy that I am exporting non oil products...😂😂😂😂😂...if you don't read the entire article, you will think the non oil export was from government
If you understand economics, it is a good omen that the non+export trade is coming from private individual and organization. This is telling you that people who makes up a economy are being productive to earn the country the foreign exchange it needs for other activities.

Mr. Okiemute made ₦255 million from export of ginger, yam and powdered mushrooms to Hong Kong and Ecuador. Also, Mr Usman Dambogo made almost a billion exporting cattle, python and goat hides to Italy.

I even wan set meeting with all these men during Easter so that they go put me through.

Many people are making money from exporting so many things.

YOU MISSED THE POINT! the idea from the on-set was to increase the inflow of Dollar to our Foreign reserve, like you rightly stated, the proceeds from the export sales comes in through the CBN! so the CBN gets to keep the Dollar in our Foreign reserves and transfers the Naira equivalent to the Exporters in Nigeria! it's a WIN for the Country
