Nigeria Loses out on Ayooluwa Oke - Denver Summit.

https://www.facebook.com/61571653274606/videos/mile-high-meet-ayo-oke-/1518290662789483/

https://www.allforxi.com/soccer/12631/denver-summit-defender-ayo-oke-earns-first-ever-call-up-with-the-uswnt-avery-patterson-houston-dash-out-due-to-illness-nwsl

Ayo had just moved from Pachuca in the Mexican League (where she played alongside Ohale and for the past 2 seasons) to new NWSL expansion team, Denver Summit. Her transfer fee was $450K], the highest ever for a player coming in from the Mexican league. (Source: https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/47445806/nwsl-denver-sign-ayo-oke-pachuca-sources)

Now she has just been invited to the USWNT.

I am so pissed!!!
This young lady would have added uunbeliveable depth to the Super Falcons. She is comfortable playing a RB, LB, DM and winger, with blazing speed and high footballing intelligence. I would rate her above Alozie and Nicole Payne right now.
This is someone we easily could have invited for the WAFCON last year, as she wanted to play for the Super Falcons and identified as Naija, but the 'wise guys' in the glass house and that overrated coach decided to invite 2 homebased nobodies instead.

Oh well...

This is what you will continue to get when you have an unintelligent Coach as Head Coach, there’s no way a good Coach will spot this talent and not make a move for her long ago…

Ayo have played for the US from U15-U23 level and was captain of the U23 sometime ago, this tells you she’s quality. There was a chance having her in the team when she was playing in Mexico but now back to the 🇺🇸 Emma Hayes quickly brought her in..

Wow so we have lost Ayo to USA? What a shame. 1st Edna now this. I am so sick of that eediot NFF president Gausau who has no clue as well as that mumu coach of ours. Justine Madugu. Its like our Local coaches cannot communicate to the foreign Born players their plans and how to integrate them into the National teams. They would rather invite homebased players that are not even that good. If Nigeria is not carefu, the ladies will miss out of the world cup just like their male counterparts. Everybody is preparing and augmenting their teams except Nigeria. Shame, angry angry angry angry angry

The only hope we have is that the matches the USWNT will play are friendlies not cap tie in games so technically, she can still switch over to Nigeria but i wont be suprised if she sticks with the US with the WWC coming up next year. We all know our yeye coach will probably drop her for some no name Nasarawa Amazon player instead if she even agrees to switch.

Getting a message across to Ayo would have been very easy with Osi and Ihezuo playing with her at Pachuca…

There are ways to tye down players, Cap them down once the Potential of becoming a future star for the team Is very obvious. Incase of tomorrow If they blow up good for the Nigeria if they don’t the Player loss…

‘We’, as in the players asking her informally or ‘We’, as in the football federation through active engagement and demonstrating a statement of intent?

I am willing to bet you a pretty penny that Madugu or the NFF never reached out to her. The same thing happened with Edna (even though he said he tried to AFTER the Spanish authorities had gone all in and started the process of capping her).
Randy would have reached out and called her without prompting - same way he did for Alozie, Okoronkwo, the Payne sisters, Echegini and Rinsola. It’s about full-bore engagement and demonstrating intent, not trying to BS when they clearly dropped the ball.

We have lost four (4) precocious talents due to NFF incompetence and waffling…

The thing tho is that the Falcons hardly play friendlies so how do you even call these players up? In the rare event that we organize a friendly match the corrupt NFF and coaches will squander the opportunity just to invite rubbish players instead of those that deserve callups. We are a hot mess and it's been like this since Randy Waldrum left. Those eediots in the Glass house all need to be kicked out of office including Ibrahim Gausau, Sanusi Yusuf and Austine Eguavoen. They are all useless and corrupt. angry angry angry angry angry

I can't tell u what Madugu or the NFF did. My own is that we have players in her club and I am sure she was asked about joining us. If she told them no, what could anyone say to change her mindhuh

Edna was the top scorer in Spain and Oke is now the most expensive American player in the NWSL. To act like their countries were not keeping an eye on them is crazy.

What the players Waldrum brought in have in common is that nobody wanted them at the time. He didn't have to talk anyone out of playing for USA or Spain.

I agree with you in a sense that the context somewhat differs. Somewhat because it didn't always differ. It's fair to acknowledge that Waldrum faced little to no difficulty in getting most of the girls to join the national team. Alozie was literally on trials at Houston with no guaranteed contract when she got invited. Esther and the Paynes also weren't courted by other national teams when the got invited. I dare say joining the super falcons was one of the best things that happened to the careers of the aforementioned. Onumonu and Plumptre are probably the only once who didn't necessarily need to join the super falcons to get a career boost and even they weren't seriously courted by England or the USA (Plumptre with time could arguably have gotten called up by England though cause she's that good).

But when you looks at someone like Edna and Ijeh, they weren't always priority for both Spain and Sweden. They both literally publicly auditioned for a spot in the Super Falcons, the NFF just weren't serious enough to take advantage of it. I remember Evelyn's dad in a TV interview literally asking for her daughter to be invited as she was ready to dorn the green jersey. Edna also publicly said it will be an opportunity to play for Nigeria. We just weren't strategic enough to at the very least tie them down with games when there was opportunity to do so. I'm not very familiar with Oke so can't speak on her, but I'm almost certain she also was at some point easy to cap it we were strategic enough.

I also think it is unfair to blame Madugu for this. I may not fancy Madugu as a coach, but it's unfair to put this on him. Waldrum could have capped Edna and Evelyn if he wanted to. If I remember correctly Evelyn Ijeh was invited to one of the camps they had in Europe by Waldrum at some point (Rossa Ariyo and Zogg were also in that camp). Waldrum could also have very easily called up Edna between 2022 and 2024 before Spain took her seriously.

On players talking to help recruit, I think it is only reasonable to do so where the national team is actively trying to convince a player for dorm the jersey and players getting involved will only be to serve as catalyst for that process. A player can do all the convincing in the world to help recruit a player, but if said player isn't in the plan of the NFF or the coach it will be to no avail and every prospective player knows that. I won't take you serious if you're talking to me about representing Nigeria when I haven't even been approached by your football association.

The other angle you aren't considering is that not every local player is pro the inclusion of foreign born players. While I obviously can't prove it with evidence, I have on a few occasions gotten the impression that certain players in the current national team structure do not favour calling up foreign born players. It goes without saying that players like this won't do the lord's work in speaking to others about representing Nigeria should it be necessary.

The Super Falcons will take part in a Four-Nation tournament for the four teams representing West Africa at the 2026 WAFCON.

-WAFU-B Secretariat invite the Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Ivory Coast for this mini-tournament set to take place between February 27th and March 7th.

How does this make any sense? The competition does not fall within an official FIFA window, meaning no FB players will be invited and scrubs from the NWFL will be invited.
How does this benefits the SF??
It is obviously an opportunity for the Azamen in the NFF to sell players and make money.
A bunch of crooks!

I get that the NFF will always have its flaws and issues but dont you think you may be playing a bit harsh here on them?

There is actually a window between February 27 and March 7. The Wafcon starts March 17. So what window period from what you showed is more feasible?

This new fifa club competition for the ladies is making me grit my teeth at how the nwfl clubs fall hand. Asfar getting that slot for this year's own.

When will an nwfl club recover the grounds and take over, or are they slipping away due to lack of better technical staff?

The next edition better have a rep from Nigeria. Imagine an Essien playing vs Arsenal and the coach sees her and gets her.

Is it not too early to bench Osinachi Ohale? Yes she has lost one or two yards of pace but she makes up for it with experience and good positioning.. I must say the Backline still needs a Veteran like her.

Also the Central Defense might also lack that height she brings one of the reason I will clamour for a tall CB as replacement.

In Midfield Madugu hardly play a Double Pivots, he prefers a Single DM and two CAM ( Ajibade & Echegini ).

But again moving Ajibade back to the Right Wing Is a big plus which I’m hoping he will consider..

We still don’t have a Proper ( no.9 )Natural finisher yet since Desire Oparanozie retirement..!

Joy Omewa is best as Substitute as she needs to improve a lot on her game even though she hasn’t played much minutes..

As for Gift Monday if she makes the team and get to play she will want to prove those dropping her from the team wrong… A good inclusion.

We will have to make do with Esther Okoronkwo who get more involved in ball playing rather than waiting to be fed to score goals.

Edna Imade lose 😭

Someone explain this move to me like I'm 5. How does this make sense? Signing for a team in the second English division that is 6th on the table and therefore unlikely to be promoted is mind boggling. What's the angle here? Is it monetary incentive?

What happened to moving to Mexico, mid table Spanish teams?

I guess is for the money because there’s no way Fortuna will even let her go when they’re hunting for the League title and she’s also going for the golden boot..

Probably why she only signed till the end of the season..
Earlier rumors were Brighton, Aston Villa and West Ham were after her..

Comments on twitter about her were asking why she didn’t move to a D1 club that she’s good enough to play in any of the A leagues..
