Cashing out as how? How many freelancers make $500?

Don't preach to me that I'm ignorant, because I handle data from freelance sites to train LLM's.

Bros leave that thing. Freelance is in it's sunset days.

AI has taken over bhai.
Is AI not tech? huh huh

Infact if you tell a company that you cannot generate an accurate and appropriate prompt for codes, they'll throw the applicant outta the door.

I did an interview for a guy last year. I asked him: "do you think having extensive knowledge of of coding without knowing how to generate a prompt can grant you this job?"

He was optimistic, but was wise to detect my body language with a smile.

He replied: "sir I too use AI too but not much.".

I then commented with: "you see, be plain with me because I know these things"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then you have not worked in an enterprise environment before. You claimed to recruit an applicant based on the fact that they could query an LLM to generate codes for them. That sucks!. Is that what programming has been reduced to or you dont know the level of understanding and complexities require ?

AI is taking over lots of work I must admit. I used to pay lots of cash I'm the past for services on Fiverr.

Nowadays, simpky using Deepseek or Chatgpt, it's free.

Things like article writing or advert copy are now free.

However, I need to master how to use AI to benefit from all aspects.

I still pay for website design, optin page design and so on.

To me, AI is still tech

AI is a subset of technology.

The thing is that tech can absorb so many people because it's an enabler - it's used to drive other industries. But tech is most likely experiencing its last boom before artificial intelligence renders techies useless.

I'm forecasting this will happen in the next 15 - 20 years. AI research labs are now paying their workers handsomely because those employees are building projects that will take their place. Some pay as high as $150 per hour while others pay $500k per annum.
Even AI is tech smiley Although it's an advanced level of tech. AI is driven by tech and those who have tech skills make the best use of AI.

Other tech skills coexisted earlier, but AI will consume the rest in no time. There are many companies out there trying to use AI agents to end coding. You just give an instruction to an AI app and it builds what you want.

AI will be used for all tech by humans who know how to use AI. smiley

You know nothing about AI agents.

Fiveer. I don't think Fiveer uses connect for job applications.
Already did Fiverr. Same thing, but they call it something different I think.

You need to be on the creative side. You cannot simply specialize on a routine skill anymore, and this is what the future techie need to keep in mind when going into the future. While A.I. will render a lot of tech skills useless there are many many more that A.I. cannot touch.

With AI slated and even beginning to wipe out a lot of entry level tech jobs, the global consensus is that tech isn't really the hot cake it used to be. That field is already very competitive. With just a simple prompt in Gemini, it gave me the code for an app that randomly generates numbers following a set pattern. It even offered a number of other features that I found useful.

I think cloud and DevOps still holds good prospects though. But DevOps isn't for everyone. I think that's the most frustrating aspect of tech. But the money is good from what I hear. A friend who moved to the UK years ago specialized in DevOps and from what he showed me, last year he saved close to 500 million naira after tax. He is quite sort after and travels all over the world. It took him 8 years to get there and he plans to retire this year at 42.

He encourages young folks who have a passion for tech to go into it but they need to be very intentional about it. In 10-15 years just about every aspect of tech will be AI dominated but cloud technologies still hold bright and vast potentials for anyone willing to put in the level of work ethic and dedication required.
Please can you link me to that friend for advice?

I am a corp member wanting to go into tech, but the frustration and confusion is out of this world.

Wow.

Awesome.

I appreciate.
Tenses:
He's idea that tech must be putting together algorithm. And also saying 98% youth into tech in Nigeria are not applying it in a certain specialization. Go to X platform or LinkedIn or fiver and so many platforms and see Nigeria youths applying technology in various specialization.

Tech is not like medicine that you have a doctor just being a surgeon or a urologist and can't be both. A tech guy can be a front and back end programmer. He can be also a data analyst. The possibility is endless. Infact most foreign tech firms can be multitasking so a tech guy with just one specialised tech skill may be inadequate.

What is this domain knowledge pls?

My last question.
Sorry for my late reply.

Good evening.

You should be the one to define tech.

How would a carpenter use tech to solve healthcare problems? People with domain knowledge use tech to solve problems.

Carpenters use domain knowledge to design mordern house furniture

For example if you practiced law for 10 years and know a bit of data analytics , you are best placed if a law firm is looking for a data analyst compared to someone who is a data analyst but have worked in healthcare for 10 years.

cheesy I laugh in Swahili. So, AI agent would prompt itself and AI agents were made my aliens and for aliens. Then AI agent isn't driven by technology. Ok Mr.AI agent who knows it all about AI grin

What gives money in tech is knowing how to use it to solve a problem. The moment you've identified a problem, you can now solve it leveraging an AI solution or just AI-driven app

Interesting discussions, bosses.

I’m curious to hear from people here who are already established in tech (especially those working remotely or at senior levels).

For context: I have 24hrs electricity, fast internet, an engineering background, and a decent foundation in programming concepts (Boolean logic, basic algorithms), plus working knowledge of Python and SQL.

I already have a learning path I’m following, but I’d like to ask, if you were starting again today in Nigeria with these advantages I stated above, and the disadvantages the OP has already stated, what path or niche would you personally go for and why?

OP should add this comment to his topic.

The popularity is currently driven by trainers who lure people into paying for their courses.

And that's even where the money is - Selling the courses!

it is not paying them entirely, if you want your profile to be pushed to front page when clients search for freelancers you have to do that with connects.

I'm a rising talent on Upwork on my way to a top rated freelancer. You use money to get money on Upwork.

But these days, I just get interview invites from potential clients...the work I'm currently doing for a client now, I got it without spending a single connect.
Do these freelance site offer jobs for people who have skills in Finance and Accounting?
