PAYE Cut Increases Workers’ Take-home Pay In January — Oyedele
By Oyindamola Olawuyi 3 Hours Ago

Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has said that Nigerian workers were starting to enjoy higher take-home pay following a reduction in Pay As You Earn (PAYE) deductions under the country’s newly enacted tax laws.

Oyedele shared this in a post on X on Monday, citing feedback from employees who have already received their January 2026 salaries.

He noted that early reports indicated the new tax system was already easing the burden on workers, especially salary earners whose taxes are deducted directly at source.

The announcement comes as the federal government rolled out comprehensive tax reforms aimed at increasing disposable income, boosting economic growth, and simplifying tax administration nationwide.

Oyedele explained that the decline in PAYE deductions was an early sign of the impact of the recently introduced tax measures designed to lessen workers’ tax obligations.

“We are pleased to note the feedback from workers who have received their salaries for January 2026 and confirmed a reduction in their PAYE tax resulting in higher take-home pay under the new tax laws,” Oyedele stated."

I’m telling you it doesn’t. If you’ve spent some years in the service you’d know there are months like that.

Assuming faac sharing doesn't affect salaries why has salary not been paid to any parasatatal or agency of fg ? If any has been paid then your right , this is 30 th and no alert yet anywhere...if so faac sharing affects salaries and salaries might just come late .
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by jswagg4(m): 11:20am On Jan 30
That's fake news. If no major newspaper website carries d news then it is false.

The faac meeting was initially held since 20th Jan. D minister for state for finance actually updated her social media handles that time. But no news report to that effect, . They usually release figures to d public but there's silence this time

A total of ₦1.969 trillion has been released by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) for sharing by the three tiers of government for January.

Consequently, federal and state civil servants have started receiving their salary for the month.

The Federal Government got ₦653.5 billion as its own share while the 36 states received a total of ₦706.4 billion and the 774 local governments ₦513.2 billion.
