Good day everyone. I appreciate the good work you're doing on this thread. Please I have a quick question and I'll be glad if anyone has an answer for me. I graduated with a 2.1 in Fisheries and Aquaculture, but I'm looking to do my masters in Agricultural Economics in Canada. Is this a possible transition? Do you know anyone that has done it before? I've searched on LinkedIn but I've not found any yet. Thank you all. |

It is in line with you first degree. But we have to ask if you have any work experience? Your proposed program should be consistent with you work if you have upto 3 years of experience. champeeon: |

Yes. Applicants from related science and agricultural backgrounds (such as those in fisheries, aquaculture, environmental science, or agriculture) are frequently accepted into graduate programs in agricultural economics at Canadian universities, particularly if they can show that they have the necessary academic background or are willing to take prerequisite courses. champeeon: |

ATTAHDYE:Thank you for your response. I had not had any formal or full-time employment since I left school. Although I've always engaged with different small farms to help them breed and expand their facility. I work fully as a freelancer to pay my bills, but I've done part-time farm jobs since 2019 because I enjoyed doing them. Do you think that will count as something during my applications? The goal is to be fully prepared for next year since most schools have already closed applications for this year. By the way, I've started reading this "part 23" from the first page to avoid asking questions that have been asked several times. |

JMG12:Thank you for your response. I've combed through the websites of several schools that offer graduate admission for Agricultural Economics courses. While I took most of the prerequisite courses, there is one particular course that keeps showing up on all the schools I've checked. I have a good result which I believe could help me to secure funding to some extent. But my fear is that some schools list on their website that you will have to take a "Qualifying Year Program" rather than taking "prerequisite courses". One of them even stated in their handbook that "Qualifying graduate students are not eligible for major scholarships or fellowships, ..." This is why I asked the question whether there is anyone here who switched from FISHERIES to AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS, because that's what I really want to go for. |

Good day everyone, I studied nursing in Nigeria and am looking to migrate to Canada through the study route. Can anyone suggest programs and schools I can apply to. I was thinking of PSW but I don’t know if it’ll be seen as a career downgrade by a visa officer. |

Hi, I have couple of questions. Got a denial last year and the reason in the denial note was “ Bank statements provided does not name the account holder and account number” The account statement was gotten from the bank app and did not have name and account number on it. Reapplying for the visa now.I can use same account and get a mybankstatement then give some explanation in the SOP but - Can I also use a new account statement that wasn’t shown in the first application? - Got a new passport, do I need to explain all changes from the previous application and this new one |

Congratulations on your admission offer. Check if Portage College is eligible to give PGWP. Red Deer Polytechnic is eligible. Compare the tuition since the both institutions are located in Alberta sexydamsel4luv: |

1. You can use a different account to ensure it meets the requirement. If you are sending myBankStatement ensure the account holder's name and number are on it before instructing your bank to send it. 2. Yes, you can use a new passport without explaining what happened to the old one, except there are some discrepancies. Teeore: |

Hello everyone. Just received a message from IRCC that I should go for my biometric, does this mean my application is progressing very well. Plz I need your response |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Nozino: 7:42pm On Feb 04 |
Aallizzwellwole:No. Everyone has to provide their biometrics before they even consider your application. Till they have your biometrics on file, your application is incomplete. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ifeanyija: 7:59pm On Feb 04 |

champeeon:Fisheries and Agricultural Economics are both within the agri-food sector, so your transition is very much possible. The main academic consideration will be your background in economics. I believe you took Introduction to Economics in your first or second year, so be sure to highlight that on your transcript. If you have any economics-related certifications, you can email them to the graduate office of your school of interest and ask if they would suffice for eligibility. Don't disqualify yourself because you lack a full economics background. Submit your transcripts and any relevant certifications or coursework to the school and let them make the judgment. Wishing you good luck |

Please I need help. I am in canada sponsoring my sister from Naija, I want to open a GIC account for her, now my problem is that I learnt I can’t open the account here and deposit the money directly. Apparently the GIC has to be opened from Nigeria and the money deposited from Nigeria. My question now is that is there a way I can go about it without losing money due to the exchange rate and conversions.I don’t have Naira I only have Cad Secondly can I use an online service to notarize my affidavit here in canada, will IRCC accept? Thanks guys |
