Sesko should've started.

Why play a false 9 in a low block
If he tweaked the "winning formula" and we lost, the media would probably blame him.

Now as e don happen, he don get reason to start Sesko in the next match.

well, who will bench him. Obviously not Cunha
Amad, Cunha and Mbuemo - under normal circumstances, 2 of them supppose dey bench for different reasons

Unfortunately, we no get replacements

This is why versatile players like Rashford are important - he can play anywhere across the front line

guess he thinks this is pep's barca with messi as false 9

half time, he should have subbed in sesko and zirkzee and played spray and pray

for whatever reason they weren't even taking outside shots
they were trying to pass the ball into the net like wenger's arsenal
gave hermansen nothing to do

that said, if shaw had scored
the game woulda turned out differently

Given the outcome of the last four games, I will take the draw. I just don’t expect a draw or loss next week. We need to beat Everton.

Our approach to that game would determine if we would get a result or not.

Sesko, even with his untidy touches and brainfarts here and there, appears to be a "fox in the box" with impressive predatory instincts

We need to start playing to his strengths, especially with the currently poor form of Mbuemo and Amad, and also considering the fact that our LW is dead for now.

Carrick CANNOT afford to be inflexible though it was a bit refreshing to see Zirkzee and Sesko on the pitch at the same time when we threw the kitchen sink at West Ham.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristineC: 11:57pm On Feb 10
the game was winnable. we wasted the entire first half with all that walking pace football. match starts from the blast of the whistle.
Carrick should not try that approach again..

I don't know why Martinez looked lost on that goal the team conceded. other than that, he and Maguire/Yoro were immaculate.

I doubt it, he has a lot of goodwill in the bank already beating City, Arsenal and Spurs

He should've known false 9 against a very bad low block in West Ham tiny stadium won't work.

Hopefully he learn going forward, no complains from me

I suspected that banana will turn iron in this game.
Away game. West Ham fighting for their lives. Their manager is haramic. We had less than 1 week rest.

2 criticisms of Carrick:
1) Allowing the team complete that whole first half at walking pace thereby playing into the hands of West Haram.

2) Not making the Sesko change at half time or immediately they scored.

1 praise:

Making the Yoro for Maguire change. Prevented a couple of West Ham counterattack goals and helped us with ball progression.

Amad should drop to the bench for next game.
he was absolutely terrible.
refused to take on Diouf who is clearly very clumsy.
disappointing from him honestly.
I mentioned my concerns about him a week ago. Several peeps here said he’ll come good.

Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

The way you go from 0 to 100 and back to 0 is amazing.

I think he is tired. That effort and acceleration was not just there. I saw glimpses of it in the Fulham game which is why i wanted him to be rested after that.

Thank God for the break over the next few days.

Martinez was always holding the ball too long for fast progression/transition.Even lord Maguire.Yoro change that when he came in hence that goal.l think is about time Amad sit on the bench.l dnt think he is Fatigue. He just lack ideas in that final transition.Except for that cross to sesko Mbeumo was completely clueless thruout. There was counter we had instead of passing to Amad he ran into west defenders.

I thought I was the only one that noticed this..especially in the 1st half.

It appeared he was almost always looking to make that cross-field/over head pass

It’s a long break indeed.

Hopefully we’ll work out new ways to score against low blocks during that period.

Talking about low blocks, our next match (away vs Everton) might be worse than yesterday. They successfully parked the bus at Old Trafford and won 1-0. Nwoyes will try that approach again.

If we approach that game the same way we approached the West Ham match , wahala go happen.

I think Yoro should get more game time against these low block teams. He’s faster and more offensive than Maguire. If not for him we’d have lost against West Ham. Kept us in the game with 2 wondrous blocks.

At a time I was bemuse.Credit must be given to Yoro( l was initially afraid when he came in) .He made that backline more fluid.

The Everton result was more due to our cluelessness than to Everton's low block. Yesterday Wet Haram limited us to 10 shots with an xG of less than 1. I agree the Everton game will be tough however but that is partly because they will be able to defend better than West Ham even without a low block.

Martinez, Mainoo, Maguire were just posing on the ball in the 1st half like don dadas. Serious wakeup call. The next game must end in a win.

Yeah, it might be a good time to play Yoro. If we are facing low block teams, he or Heaven should be the choice ahead of Maguire. It is also looking like Dalot is about to lana. The guy don focus die for 4 games, him head don dey pain am. We should rest him for Maz before he woundjure us.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:21am On Feb 11
engrelvis, you don see small team now ba?

xG of less than 1 because of haramic low block football. If we were playing a bigger team space for yapa around their 18yd box.

The skillset needed to attack teams that will open up and give you easy passing planes and space in behind is different from the one needed to attack low block.

The skillset needed to defend against a team pressing you into your box is different from the one needed to defend on the halfway line. e.g. Maguire vs Yoro

Yeah i think sesko is more efficient in playing low block teams.

Just chip the ball to him and he takes a shot without having to break down their compact defense
