This is why I love America, they are very detailed and intentional with whatever they do. These guys have been gathering intelligence on Nigeria's insecurity and the root causes.

You see this illegal Chinese mining, it is one of the root cause of insecurity in Northwest and Middlebelt.

America know what they are doing.

If Nigeria want to partner with Chinese in solid mineral mining, let them make it official and partner with Chinese government and than ban illegal mining by any individual or group of persons just as it is with crude oil mining and even rifinning, simple.

That is exactly what is happening. The militias is only using the opportunity of the artillery they have to push their Islam agenda but it's the illegal miner that is sponsoring them. The claim that the Chinese are funding Boko Haram is entirely false. It is wildly false and ridiculous! How come the Chinese did not fund the same in Guinea Conakry, Zimbabwe or the numerous countries it has mining operations?

America just finds it hard to compete on a level playing field because in the hinterlands across the north, it is Chinese businessmen who are willing to enter those places to purchase mines. Should they be driven out, many of those mines would become idle, as no one else would buy the mines from the artisanal miners. The same thing happens in Namibia. Again, no one, nor the Chinese, is stopping the Yanks from setting up mining operations anywhere in Northern Nigeria. Simply meet the traditional rulers, become registered, hire translators, hold your money, and you will get what you want.

How hard is this to comprehend?

In fact, my distrust towards the Americans started when I read an official from the embassy berating Chinese investments in the mining industry, whereas only the Chinese were setting up operations, factories and employing the locals. If it is not witchcraft, why would you be against investments which result in job creation in a region with a high unemployment rate? Accusing the Chinese of funding Fulani militias is a laughable and horrible lie.

The biggest refining projects aimed at refining the ores and mines are spearheaded by the Chinese. The only Western-run refining operation in the country is the gold refinery in Osun. The rest are Chinese-funded.

Did the Chinese stop others from entering the sector? No.

Well it's true that these Chinese men are paying hikitia for protection. They are currently in Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State. The governor kept quiet because they've paying him hundreds of millions through the former commissioner of environment. It became so juicy that the governor now handled the ministry of environment funds himself .... 😂
