SuperEagles:Go and verify, according to your so called Pandora papers, he opened the so called offshore bank account before joining politics. So the crime they claimed he committed was not declaring the $millions he had in the so called offshore bank account while he was contesting for Anambra Governor, which he clarified that he never knew that someone that wants to contest for Governor or that just got sworn in as Governor must declare assets of their children, because he had already transferred all the wealth to his daughter and no longer obligated to declare it as his assets since the daughter is above 18yrs. So yes your Pandora papers said he opened the offshore account before he became Anambra state Governor. Peter Obi's wealth is well explained and defined. He started building wealth even as a student at University of Nigeria Nsukka. He said and told everyone to go and verify that he made his first million as a student through commodity trading which he used to build house in Enugu which the Sultan of Sokoto rented from him and lived as a student back then at UNN. He later relocated to UK and continued his commodity trading business there and even got a loan of £1million pounds from a UK institution which he further used to expand his business in UK and Nigeria. As far back as early 1990s Obi was the sole importer of so many household commodities virtually all Nigerians consumed, salad cream and many others. He was so young that back then customs were delaying importers goods at the port to the extent clearing out container took months, so importers staged a peaceful protest and then head of state Abacha invited them. During that meeting, Abacha noticed a very young boy who was vocal and called him out and asked him who he was and Obi said he is an importer, Abacha was wowed and asked him to explain their challenges as importer and what he felt could solve the problem. Right there before everyone present, Abacha made Peter Obi the leader of the taskforce to ensure smooth clearance of goods at Nigerian ports. Before becoming Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi occupied several exalted private office positions like: Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc And several others I wouldn't want to use to bore you here, you can Google his profile and read up. Despite his personally acquired wealth to millions of dollars before joining politics, he didn't buy a private jet but Bola Tinubu whose questionable wealth only ballooned after he became Lagos state Governor acquired private jet and several other high profile investments and you guys think such a man will ever lead a Nigeria out of corruption to a great future, how is that possible? |

[quote author=steadygo post=138533308]It feels like many people have one extreme opinion of Tinubu or the other. He is either the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria or he is our savior. A lot of his economic moves like subsidy removal, FX reforms, and trying to increase government revenue should benefit Nigeria over time on paper. So I can understand to that level why people would like him at least to that level. At the same time, I understand why many feel the hardship is too much and that the government didn’t cushion it well, even though much of the cushioning depended on institutions or lack thereof that was already in place before Tinubu came in. I'm interested in hearing more on why people dislike him, what about Tinubu is so much worse than past Presidents? Not looking at it in the sense of the overall state of the economy which depends on many things but in terms of governance. People wey like am like am . We are all different. Everybody cannot like him. |

Owontime:Not true bro. Are you not aware that even Buhari never liked Tinubu just because he considered him a very corrupt man. They said during their alliance before 2015, the first day Buhari visited Bourdillion, he asked if it was a car garage where they sell cars. The same Buhari also asked Rochas Okorocha if his private house in Imo was the Imo state government house. Buhari was wowed at the level of wealth these men had. Peter Obi have a likeable personality simply because he is highly contented. Despite his enormous wealth and profile, he continued to live a very low profile life, doesn't acquire properties and houses all over the place, encourage people around him, including his own kids to live a frugal life. His only daughter is a secondary school teacher. His son never neard Anambra state government house when he was Governor and nobody knew him, he continued to pursue his own life in the UK as a movie script writer and film director without relying on his father's influence and wealth. His wife rarely appear in public functions and never had an office of the first lady even when her husband was Anambra state Governor. All his brothers didn't get close to Anambra government house seeking for contract. His only sister is a Catholic Nun, one of his elder brothers a Catholic Reverend Father. None of his family members came close to Anambra government house just because their brother was the Governor, he told everyone that nobody should consider his family members for any government related stuff based on the fact that he is the Governor. Nigeria need to try such a highly contented man and see what happens, not believing that a known guyman, a globally known kleptomaniac like Tinubu will transform Nigeria, how? A man that all his immediate family and extended family members are all actively in politics and looking for which office portfolio to hold to amass their own wealth, how can such a man transform a struggling nation like Nigeria sincerely without dipping his hands into Nigeria's treasury? Tell me how |

I see a poster above ask that what is it about Tinubu that make people dislike him so much that other past Nigerian Presidents didn't do or have? 1.) Tinubu play a very dangerous politics of tribalism, nepotism by exploiting our fault lines to incite his tribesmen against Igbos in particular which has diminished the fragile unity between Igbos and Yorubas. This is a dangerous political tactics that can lead to xenophobic attacks, genocide or ethnic clashes with potential of causing complete civil breakdown of law and order. The only past President that came close was late Muhammadu Buhari but his own wasn't to the dangerous level of Tinubu's who also controls a key cosmopolitan state in Nigeria; Lagos, which makes his own more dangerous than Buhari's 2.) Tinubu does not have a straightforward history; family, true origin, educational history, employment history, source of wealth. Every other past President of Nigeria have a known history except Tinubu 3.) Highest level of corruption. Tinubu is the only Governor in Nigeria that finished governing as Governor of his state and hijacked the state political and entire structure for 23yrs counting. This act alone is enough to make Nigerians dislike him because Nigeria is not a Royal Kingdom where one man and family rules over others perpetually like it's their inherited birthright. Yes Obasanjo was corrupt too but he was not tribalistic, he was a pan-Nigerian leader who carried all regions and tribe alone with sincerity of heart and the reason his people disliked him for not prioritizing their affairs more than others. This singular reason made most Nigerians to kind of overlooked Obasanjo's other shortcomings. 3.) Tinubu's type of politics forbids opposition and that is crazy. He did it in Lagos state for over 23yrs and trying hard to repeat it in Nigeria as a whole, such character will definitely attract massive dislike. 4.) His whole family are all into politics, it's a very bad sign never found in good and quality leaders that liberated their nations or society. That also attract dislike from people observing because no be only you get family na. Let me stop here for now ![]() |

I hate the man mainly because of his lack of concern for Nigerians in general. 200 people were killed in Benue in 2025. He showed up after mounted pressure but couldn't even visit the affected community. He was there making political statements like "I know you don't like me but I'm still your president" that's callousness embodied in a homo sapien. The same in Kwara but he had time to go to a fish festival. Security under his administration has worsened. He surrounds himself with a number of people who are known criminals like Matawale and Bagudu. He's a man of questionable character, considering how there are discrepancies about his age, his parents or anything about his childhood. We don't know who he is. He came into power and the first thing he did was to remove subsidy on fuel without a concrete plan. He devastated us all. His moves are also very questionable, he came into power, disrupted the economy and decided to buy a new airplane, new cars, a yacht and has been galavanting the globe thereby spending tax payers money. What was the essence of changing the national anthem? Is that what the country needs now? Let's not forget how he rigged the elections in Rivers thereby rewarding Wike with the Ministerial position of the FCT for his assistance. If he's confident that people actually like him, why did he rush to sign the bill with the caveat of transferring results manually if network fails when a survey by INEC shows that over 93% of polling areas have network coverage? We know well that they're trying to rig the upcoming election. I've not even touched how the economy has been tanking under him but let me leave it here. |

Tenses:No one President can solve Nigeria's humongous problems within a short period because they have been there for decades but President Tinubu has more positives than negatives than all the previous govts. Not praising him but it is the reality. In Health, taking health close to the masses is paramount.By mid-2025, visits to Basic Health Care Provision Fund facilities increased from 10 million to 45 million, with 1,786 Level 2 functional PHCs identified for upgrades. A 17% drop in maternal deaths and a 12% reduction in newborn deaths were reported in target areas, with skilled birth attendance coverage increasing by 33%. Development of 10 new oncology and diagnostic centers across geopolitical zones is underway. In 2025, the administration secured $2.2 billion in funding for health sector reforms. Training of 120,000 frontline health workers is in progress, with initiatives to improve welfare and address labour issues. The launch of the Presidential Initiative to Unlock the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) aims to boost local manufacturing of generic drugs and vaccines to lower costs. Efforts to expand national health insurance and incorporate a vulnerable group fund have also been implemented. |

Most of the noise against President Tinubu is coming from a bitter opposition and sore losers still nursing the defeat of their overhyped ‘messiah,’ still struggling to accept electoral defeat and a crowd of political amateurs who confuse social media trends with real governance. They can keep spinning conspiracy theories, but governance isn’t won on hashtags. Meanwhile, millions of Nigerians who understand the realities of politics and leadership continue to stand with the president. In a democracy, opposition is expected, but bitterness and propaganda don’t change the outcome of an election. |

gidgiddy:The hatred has always been there, even before he became president. The hate is largely from one region, and it came from the role Tinubu played in ousting GEJ. The hatred became worse when Tinubu won the election in 2023. I remember very clearly those who began the rumour that Buhari had sidelined Tinubu. They could not believe that the same Tinubu would remain in APC and still throw his weight behind Buhari's reelection while political desperados like Atiku, Obi, Dino, Saraki have been busy running up and down like headless chickens, hoping to become president overnight. |

Merry100:yes, it's easily to rate Tinubu when you're not living in NIgeria lol. When he was governing Lagos, the people in Lagos insulted him daily. But now, the general consensus is he did well. If you were reading the news of what the was doing, you would see that he was trying in Lagos, but if you're living under it, reading the news isn't going to change your mind. But today, Lagos is his personal company. So he's 'good' comes with a severe cost. |

I have verified and Peter Obi remans a pando criminal. Tinubu wealth ballooned after he became governor but he was a druglord according to your tribesmen. A poor druglord ba ?! Tinubu got rich only upon becoming Lagos governor but he single handedly financed NADECO that fought the military govt to standstill which is where he earned respect the likes of Wole Soyinka Oshomole Kokori Rewane etc A Tinubu that worked as a consultant for Deloitte on an assignment for Saudi Aramco earning his first millions in dollars his wealth is unverifiable to you out of bigotry ? A man who worked for Arthur Andersen and GTE Services Corporation before he later joined Mobil Producing Nigeria is whom you claim does not have verifiable source of income ?! Your Peter Obi never had a pandora account before becoming governor this are the facts pandora paper exposed and the account he created were in his daughter Gabrielle's name. After Obi was caught red handed looting N250 million monthly from Anambra coffers to his house at Aerodome in Apapa by then Lagos commissioner of police Marvel Akpoyibo he decided he will be looting into a foreign account like his colleague and created the pandora account in his daughter name to hide his fraud. All other nonsense you have to defend Obi criminality is your cup of urine. Seun:So above you can clearly see Peter Obi looting spree and criminality. franchasng: |

franchasng:The way he awarded the project was a masterstroke, something Nigeria needs. Big milestone projects never gets done because it gets bogged down in corrupt ridden and failure personified red tapes. If it was a dunceee president, they will still be at the feasibility study of that project and abandon it as cost keep changing. The way he galvanised the national assembly and ensured the tax reform bill was initiated and passed in to an act in a year in the face of opposition is something that needs to be studied, it is of the same mold as the Petroleum industry act that took almost forever (12 years) to be passed and when it was even passed, it was a dangerously watered down and messed up shit that was passed in the Petroleum Industry Act. He signed executive orders some days ago to fix the mess of that poor job of the Petroleum industry act. The dexterity of removing fuel subsidy on a swearing in podium, something Buhari was afraid to do for 8 years so as not appear like a bad president. Nigerians do not appreciate Tinubu enough now(even supporters) , but many will look back and recognise he was what we needed. Nigeria can not work with people who can not galvanise, and will come back after 4 years to claim it was someone that made them fail and loads of excuses. |
