Herding our family's indigenous veld goats to the veld for their daily graze while at my grandparents' house during school holidays, especially the festive period...😒😒😒 Those goats were mischievous, on the way to the veld, just pray you don't come across a homestead that has left their gate wide opened because they'd immediately flock in there and start feeding on their plants... You have to quickly intercept them and at that time, it's 12pm and blazing hot... Since we were six in total, we'd take turns in herding them in a group of three each, I don't know who told my people that the proper time to send goats to the veld is 12pm...😒😒😒 If you don't send the goats deep into the veld, they'll eventually come back and start disrupting those homesteads that are not fenced in for the rest of the day, you'll then have to answer to my grandfather and you better have a good explanation... ... But if you send them deep into the veld and they don't return back home altogether in the afternoon or evening, it'll still be an issue... First thing tomorrow morning, you'll have to go and show the old man where you left his goats the previous day only to find them somewhere on a hill top while bleating down on you as if they expect you to start climbing the hill to fetch them...😒😒😒Getting the goats to go into their pen in the evening was also another thing...🤦🤦🤦... All the grandchildren would have stop whatever they were doing to assemble against the herd of goats like the Avengers... But looking back now, I've realised that those days were the happiest days of my life as a child, our grandparents left us with nothing but great childhood memories. |

I didn't do messaging alot. Seems my parents were comfortable buying stuffs themselves instead of sending the kids. Modified:- i was used for indoor errands, but outdoor was not usually assigned to me. |

Washing moi-moi cups. Back then we used empty milk or tomato tins to cook moi-moi unlike now when many people have switched to plastic containers with lids. My siblings and I used to take turns doing the dishes. Whenever it was my turn and we cooked moi-moi I knew I was in trouble. It felt as though the ground should just open up and swallow me rather than wash those cups. Any slight mistake the sharp edges, especially the ones that weren’t properly hammered flat would cut my hands. After some time my mum switched to using nylon wraps, and finally, I had peace of mind. |

I hated going to buy cigarettes for someone because I was taught smoking is a sin and anyone buying it is also committing sin. |

No. Neither of dem. My parents were used to buy things themselves. Maybe they were afraid of sending the kids because of fear that something bad may happen to us outside. Indoor errands was my only part. Normally we were mostly locked indoors(caged). Vinnie2000: |

I don't like to wash clothes but funnily, it's what I enjoy the most now. I'll leave the washing machine and use my hands. I'll start with a few pieces of clothes, then add this one, and another one, and another one. I don't like to cook too but ironically, I'm an excellent cook, it's not just something I'd excitedly do but I do it a lot now, even trying new recipes and all. |
