Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed regret over his role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014, saying the country’s situation has worsened under the current administration.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Atiku recalled how opposition leaders came together in 2014 to form a united political front to address what they believed were growing challenges under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“We did this exercise in 2014, not so? We came together and formed APC because we felt democracy was faltering, only for us to end up at the same position we found ourselves in 2014 worse,” he said.

According to him, the major concerns at the time included insecurity and economic instability.

However, he argued that the current situation had surpassed those earlier challenges.

“In 2014, the major challenges were insecurity, the economy and so on. Now it is even worse than what we fought against,” Atiku stated.

He stressed the need for lessons to be learnt from the past, warning that any new political coalition must remain focused on restoring what he described as “true democracy” in Nigeria.

“We must have that in mind. We must succeed to make sure that we restore true democracy to our country,” he added.

It was earlier reported that leaders of opposition parties held a press conference in Abuja on Thursday with various prominent opposition leaders in attendance.

The briefing, themed “Urgent Call to Save Nigeria’s Democracy,” brought about prominent opposition leaders.

The only regret you should have is thinking that the then coalition APC which was formed around Buhari will end up giving you their ticket.

ADC will give their ticket to Amaechi and you will understand finally what true karma is.

But Atiku still lost by a major landslide to Buhari at the primaries and same thing will repeat itself with Amaechi.

The ADC primaries will bury once and for all both Atiku and Obi's political career since Obi is only in the ADC in hopes of Atiku winning the ticket and picking him as running mate.

Amaechi will end both Atiku and Obi's careers.

It is too late sir! I use to tell people since from that time that the day Alh Atiku politically shot himself dead was the day he agreed with the coalition to remove President Jonathan. Why I said so?

It was a huge political miscalculation or blunder on him.
Atiku should have just rally round Jonathan with all his might and make sure Jonathan secure his second term...this alone could have paved a kind of robust political liberation for him.

It would have earned him more respect from the south.
It would have reposition his stand in the PDP.
This would have also give him a chance to stand as a consensus PDP candidate because of the wait he threw behind Jonathan second term reelection if had done so.
