Being communal and being a burden are two very distinct things. Communal means everyone is contributing, being a burden means only one party is contributing while the other only consumes. And let's even assume we go by your logic, where do you draw the line? When does the giver get tired?

There's nothing foreign about not encouraging freeloaders. A community can't grow when the majority are lazying around expecting others to carry their weight. That's not how a community works, that's abuse of privileges.

Little wonder social media is filled with beggars who believe it's their right to collect. It's because of warped mentalities like this. Being African does not mean you should be a burden onto others and them indulging you. That only destroys the community and gives birth to spoilt, entitled brats.

My cousin from ekiti got married to a lady from abeokuta ogun state. His business suddenly crumbled, he was enmeshed in debts that he didnt know how it entered his business life. He almost committed suicide. Each time he goes to a prayer programme,they'd be asking him...where is your wife?One day he prayed in the night and asked God to reveal to him the reason behind his predicament and he saw his wife stark naked, cursing him in the den of the night in that dream. He woke up, terrified. 2 days later, a man of God told him same, that he should reverse the curse by also doing the same around midnight for 3 days. The following month, his business picked. A small fight erupted and the woman began to confess, she's looking like a mad person now.

Oh I have an experience that happened in Ile-ife, my roommates and I stayed off campus then in Varsity hostel parakin we were 2 Yoruba guys and one igbo boy.......I was asleep on that fateful day but very conscious when I heard it clearly my fellow tribesman said to the igbo that does he know if the 3 of us were to go to babalawo for money ritual and they asked that one of us should be killed, he said and I quote "shey you know say na Wale we go sacrifice".

Omo the fear that went through my body that day I will never forget, the igbo guy froze also he could not talk again.
Immediately after that semester 2 of us left him sharp sharp, cos he said that thing some days before vacation, the igbo guy came to tell me straight up he said brother when we resume we have to find another place to stay but he didn't say the reason. Whenever he calls me brother I know it's something serious.....he gave a flimsy excuse but I already knew why we had to move so i just agreed.

That useless ritualist even messaged me during holiday that he has decided to send our roommate away but me I can come and still stay and he will reduce the amount I pay (he paid more than half of our rent then) 150k he paid 100k for 2 years so it was like his selfcon amd we were squatting with him.

I japa with speed, we later got to know that same guy Akin had started buying human parts from a cadava lab in Ife and his matter casted in the lodge.

That my igbo friend God bless him wherever he is we didn't have much, ah!! We suffer no be small, but we trusted each other to the bone.
We had many experiences we would never forget right from the days of PD.
Loyalty is a rare thing in this our bloodthirsty country.

Now I have zero trust for anybody only my family.

It is not by tribes or family we have good people, good people may be scarce but they still exist. Just imagine if the guy is a wrong guy, them for colabo to use you do money rituals that is why we should always pray to God everyday not to associate with the wrong people.

God forgive me, but my mum is on this table, i don't know my offense to that woman, one time shes is giving all thus mummy lovey vibes, next thing she is outside bashing me to whomever is sitting down with her and choose to listen to how i am useless, and always adding premium salt, sugar, Maggi to tales so it will look interesting,

there are times i come home from work and quietly enter the room, she not knowing i am inside already, will come in with probably a family friend and wash me down pieces. i am not the only child but other siblings has choose to live home. they left way too early, some cant stay for more than two days whenever they visit, some choose to come around the area and not reach home before going back.
she is aged and i sincerely want to leave home, but what i am considering is leaving the house may chatter her. so most times i turn deaf ears.
it hurts though, sometimes depressing. but it also made me resilient especially at work

She said he's been travelling abroad all alone without taking her along. Menanwhile, my guy has been travelling on training and business meetings only. He's never travelled for leisure. Most times his overseas partners would sponsor his trip. She now attacked his business

That means they stole it from me. That story happened in Warri in 2002. I have told that story on Facebook over 15yrs ago and have told it on Nairaland more than twice.

Your post here shows some nuances, which I find acceptable enough. But nobody talks about someone freeloading or being a burden here; that's an entirely different issue. You initial post glorifies selfishness and irresponsibility. These 2 traits if widely adopted would lead to a cataclysmic future as they are impractical and unsustainable in the long term.
I reiterate: because Hollywood espouses such mindset or you hear redpillers bandy those words around does make it logical. It's all social engineering!

Ask him when he heard the story and ask him his time and 2002 if he was even born then.
That incident happened when I was in Warri in 2002, I went to visit a friend in Ughelli.
I have shared that story 15yrs ago when I was very active on Facebook.
I shared it many times both there and on Nairaland. So definitely he may have read it from me or from another person who relayed the story or it happens to another person which is a coincidence
