Failure To Zone ADC Ticket To South Will Make Tinubu Win - Obidient Movement by mohbadliveson(op): 8:56am On Mar 23
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Obidient Movement has cautioned the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against zoning its presidential ticket to the North, warning that such a decision could hand an easy victory to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

National Coordinator of the movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, on Sunday, said several stakeholders believe it is still the turn of Southern Nigeria to produce the country’s next president, following the eight-year tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023.

Tanko spoke while reacting to calls by the Coalition of Progressive Democratic Movements (COPDEM), which urged the ADC to zone its presidential ticket to the South ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The demand formed part of the resolutions reached at a joint National Executive Council meeting and strategy conference of COPDEM and ADC held in Abuja last week.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, participants stated that zoning the ticket to the South would help the party build a broad-based and nationally acceptable coalition capable of winning power in 2027.

The conference resolved that to build a broad, credible and nationally accepted governing coalition, the presidential ticket of the ADC for the 2027 general elections should be zoned to Southern Nigeria,” the communiqué read.

The coalition added that the recommendation aligns with Nigeria’s long-standing political culture of North-South power rotation, which it said has helped maintain political stability and national balance.

Speaking further, Tanko described the agitation for a Southern presidential candidate as logical, noting that national unity should take precedence over personal interests.

“As far as I am concerned, there are a lot of issues being raised regarding zoning the ADC presidential ticket to the South. That, to me, is very logical when you consider the fact that it is the turn of the South to rule,” he said.

“You cannot jettison such an arrangement because of personal interests. We must prioritise national interest and the unity of this country.

The party must ensure parity between the North and the South in power sharing.” He warned that failure to zone the ticket to the South could ultimately favour the incumbent president.

“Anything short of that may amount to another ticket for Tinubu to continue in office,” Tanko added. On the chances of the opposition against the APC, which currently controls over 30 state governors, Tanko insisted that the 2027 election would not be a walkover for the ruling party.

"Even with over 30 governors, the election is not a walkover for Tinubu. Nigerians are unhappy with many of the governors who defected to the APC. People believe many of them joined the ruling party for personal interests,” he said.

According to him, voters are waiting for the opportunity to express their dissatisfaction at the polls. “It is going to be the people against the government,” he stated.

Tanko also revealed that many members of the Obidient Movement have joined the ADC in recent months. He noted that while some supporters remain outside the party structure, they remain committed to supporting former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in future elections.

“Majority of Obidient members, including myself, are in ADC at the moment. However, there are some members who are not registered in the party but are ready to vote for Peter Obi wherever he contests,” Tanko said.

Atiku started his political struggle for presidency long before Peter Obi bowed to Atiku for picking him as his VP candidate for the 2019 election. If a strong, tough man like Wike could not push Atiku aside in the name of "it is the turn of the south", is it Peter Obi that was begging Wike to rig election for him in Rivers state who can?

I don't just get this blackmailing, Peter Obi knew that Atiku is the one bringing people to the ADC, financing currently.

More like Atiku's political party, why did Peter Obi join the coalition when he can form his own political party like ADC where he won't struggle the party ticket with anyone

Always, it has always been cart before the horse

Atiku can actually gift obi the ticket and allow him take the southern turn in 27 but obi should beware of the ides of March......he will be proped up to fail by the atiku camp so the seat can return to the North in 31 then atiku will be the most visible to get the ticket as obi wouldn't be in reckoning by then......they did same to obi in the last fct polls and anambra guber elections.....it was all a game plan to demystify obi.

Do the “Obidients” movement still exist in any meaningful sense? Beyond social media, their presence appears minimal. What we mostly see are occasional bursts of online noise attempting to revive a fading political relevance.

They seem to lack the experience, structure, and strategic depth required to compete in national elections. Winning at that level takes far more than hashtags and trending conversations.

At this point, the movement comes across as being driven largely by social media hype and conspiracy-laced narratives, loud in digital spaces, but with limited impact where it truly counts.

Re: Failure To Zone ADC Ticket To South Will Make Tinubu Win - Obidient Movement by hotseat: 4:33pm On Mar 23
The ADC is mainly populated by greedy, selfish, disgruntled and egoistic individuals.

The survival or non-survival of the party will depend on the outcome of their primaries.

There too many "I-better-pass-my-neighbour" personalities in the party.

Where there are many heroes, they say, there may be none at the end because the essence of heroism is singularity.

Already, the Obidients have started asserting ownership of the party to the utter bewilderment of the Atikus and the Amaechis of the party.

This singular posture alone may tear the party apart if wisdom is not applied.

Siddon-look na name of dog.

The irony. I just hope obi will contest for many more years (or another igbo). I'm going to miss all the infantile antics you lot are capable of if there's no igbo candidate for you guys to rally behind. It's so entertaining.

These deluded clowns are even worse than I first thought.
Better get ready for primary instead of trying to use victimization as a weapon.

They will work with Atiku. There's no greater torture for them than seeing a Yoruba man rule over them. You think it was ordinary when their supleme reader was ordering his hordes to destroy everything Tinubu and Ragos during Endsars? And that was at a time Tinubu was not holding any political office.

No bro, Atiku may decide to step aside and allow Obi to run. But at what cost?
Obi may be lucky to pick Kwankwasso as running mate or Elrufai.
For my own calculations sha, na TINUBU go still win 2027.
