Please has anyone been in this situation? I am on a UK Skilled Worker visa, 3.5 years in and about to switch to a new employer. My children are dependants on my visa and have been living with me here the whole time. My husband is also a dependant but has exceeded 180 days outside the UK in two separate years so he won’t qualify for ILR when I should. My children’s own absence record is clean. I want to apply for ILR for myself and my children at year 5 while my husband applies for an extension separately since he won’t qualify yet. My solicitor hasn’t given me a straight answer on whether this is possible and this is now affecting decisions around my job switch. Has anyone done this successfully? Can dependant children apply for ILR independently of whether the second parent qualifies? Any advice on how to navigate this is welcome |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by mizGene(f): 4:58pm On Mar 27 |
advanceDNA:How? Both parents are usually required to have ILR before the kids can apply. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by advanceDNA: 6:48pm On Mar 27 |
mizGene:ive seen pple apply for ILR with their kids when their spouse isnt ready….. even divorcees, the good thing is it’s the main applicant thats ready so her kids can fly with her.. The dependent husband will just use FLR extention to complete his own 5years since his dependant status won’t work with the ILR status of the spouse So what if the man leaves the uk and doesnt return.. are u saying the woman and her kids will just be in limbo?? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by mizGene(f): 7:43pm On Mar 27 |
advanceDNA:Divorcees are fine to apply with their kids, if they have sole custody. What you are saying now regarding married couples living mostly apart is different from what I know, unless something has changed (which will be good as it made no sense to me either) By the way I'm specifically referring to the kids. The woman can apply whether married or divorced. |

This is my referral link https://app.outlier.ai/expert/referrals/link/cIJTeq9U_pRjGgkOjT__ZJsbQDo. You would be taken through an onboarding process where you connect your LinkedIn, upload your CV and go through a rigorous screening process which would last about 30mins to an hour. Make sure to pass oo as that would determine if you would get task and what type of task you would get. Before 2026, the onboarding was straightforward as long as you are invited to the project but once people started abusing the platform, they made it tough. Let me know if you have any further questions. BouharryArtikou: |

Goke7:The United Kingdom, is spending £330 Billion per year on benefits, more than they receive from income taxation....... 😉🤔 Imagine receiving £329 Billion from income tax and spending £330 Billion on benefits...... What a very crazy country...... 🤔 |

Please is there anyone on this thread that is living or previously lived in Cumbria, Workington before? I'm starting a new job there and considering moving my family in May. I've hardly heard anything about the county before now. Please I hope it's a not a bad choice for an immigrant family? Also any social media group for Nigerians in the city? |

Lexusgs430:This benefits fraud have been going on for too long in this country and looks like even folks in govt one time or the other have all been a part of it cos tell me how they all continue to turn a blind eye to it. I know there were measures in the past to address it but looks like there’s now a consensus to make it look like an helpless situation and rather put the blame somewhere else! From the story posted here it was just a bad belle situation that got that fraud reported! Cos if the govt is serious we should gradually be seeing a number reduction in those reliant on benefits and getting back to work but no, more people are rather claiming disability or physically sick! |

Lexusgs430:Can it really be stopped or they'll just increase taxes again? Things like anxiety should not even be allowed to get on benefits unless they give them a time frame... say 1 year Humans will complain, but they will adjust and get serious ![]() |
