For many observers, Kwankwaso’s move instantly transformed the ADC from a relatively modest opposition platform into a formidable political vehicle capable of mounting a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Politics Kano State, from which Kwankwaso hails, has long been regarded as Nigeria’s electoral heartbeat. With the largest voting population in the country, the state has historically played a decisive role in determining national election outcomes. Over the years, Kwankwaso himself has built a formidable political structure in the state through the influential Kwankwasiyya Movement, making him one of the most powerful political figures in northern Nigeria. The symbolism of his defection was, therefore, unmistakable. Kwankwaso completed his registration into the ADC at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road in the Bompai area of Kano. There, he was formally issued his party membership card in the presence of a large crowd of supporters and political associates. Videos from the event quickly went viral on social media, showing enthusiastic supporters chanting “Obi-Kwankwado,” an apparent reference to a possible presidential ticket. In the 2023 presidential election, Obi secured over 6.1 million votes while Kwankwaso garnered about 1.5 million votes, the overwhelming majority of which came from Kano State. Together with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who polled nearly seven million votes on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the three candidates collectively secured around 15 million votes. By contrast, President Bola Tinubu of the APC won the election with approximately 8.8 million votes. For opposition strategists, the implication is obvious: if the leading opposition figures were to align under a single political platform, the electoral arithmetic could dramatically alter the balance of power in 2027. Kwankwaso’s move into the ADC, therefore, carries implications that extend far beyond Kano State. He did not join the party alone. Also defecting was Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, former deputy governor in Kano State and the APC’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election. Gawuna stepped down as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to align himself with the ADC. https://hallmarknews.com/fg-rattled-over-likely-obi-kwankwaso-ticket/

And their supporters will be jubilating on something concocted by their seniors when they could have just reason it logically. Apc is having their ward congress today, that's after the national Congress. The ADC are even yet to do any of the Congress when the election is less than a year. Who to vie , who to be the Vice , they are still yet to decide which might further scatter the party, on like Apc that already know which direction they are going. Who will get worried about the unserious ADC people? |

peter obi is a formidable opponent to apc . if he can link up with another formidable northerner , they will have a very high chance of success at the polls . APC AND TINUBU ARE NOT UNBEATABLE BUT IT WILL TAKE EXTRA EFFORT TO ACCOMPLISH AND NOT SOCIAL MEDIA POLITICS THAT ADC WANTS TO BE DOING |

You lots are funny. With the man now in Athens helm of affairs which means APC have the money to buy more votes. Before then, both Obi and Kwankwanso had roughly 7-8 million votes put together in the 2023 election. What makes you guys think both will have more votes now and that intact the votes won’t dwindle. The only politician that can give PBAT a tough time come next year still remains Atiku cuz he’ll definitely win him again up North, without Obi on the ballot, he will be able to gather enough votes in the south to beat PBAT. Other than this, una just never ready to send APC out of government. |
| Re: Federal Government Rattled Over Likely Obi/kwankwaso Ticket by WizardOfNG: 11:46am On Apr 08 |
Validated:Lol. He will. Watch the space to be schooled per how PBAT is master of all. As one example, you will see the positive results the 3.3 trillion naira payment PBAT has negotiated to settle GENCO and DiSCO debts owned since 2015 under GEJ, and through Buhari, till today. Tinubu has now worked to clear what is a monumental amount owed by his predecessors to improve power supply while Buhari and his Fulani cabal ( like Malami now in ADC ) were happy to pile up the debt, mismanagement and sleaze to pass on to the incoming government. After massive improvement in power supply will be war on inflation. The issue is that you you guys don't understand Tinubu wins easily controlling the political and socio-economic aspect of keeping stakeholders (leaders and followers) happy. He has got the political aspect locked down (over 30 governors out of 36) and will easily improve the socio-economic happiness of Nigerians shortly. Watch and see the plan unravel. Please don't cry when you realise Tinubu, again, has bettered your messiahs easily. |

Amumaigwe:With the glaring rigging he did bah. Hahaha, you people did not know that Peter Obi worked directly for Apc in 2023. Where did you think the 6 million votes came from without having any governor behind him? |
| Re: Federal Government Rattled Over Likely Obi/kwankwaso Ticket by onatisi(m): 12:35pm On Apr 08 |
In fact I think INEC has done ADC a big favor by showing their hands now ,it would have been very disastrous if they had allowed ADC to carry on till just about 4 months to election before springing any surprises . Now ADC has the time to quickly correct their mistakes and be more cautious in future Davinity: |

onatisi:I still feel a lot of you are underestimating the determination and capacity for Tinubu and Amupitan to go for broke, throw the rule book out the window, corrupt the entire electoral process and damn the consequences! There’s a reason the word impunity exists, and it’s because of people like Tinubu and Amupitan! Watching the Amupitan fella being interviewed on AriseTV the other day, there’s just something about him that doesn’t sit right! He gives off some negative, dishonest, devious, sneaky and deceptive vibes! No surprises then that he and Tinubu get on well together! I mean, we weren’t really expecting Tinubu to nominate a Prof Nnenna Oti or a Mike Igini for the position of INEC Chairman were we!? ![]() |

no matter how reckless tinubu can be with the law , he cant and isnt stronger than the people . In all honesty tinubu isn't our problem at all. he is just a product of our system, our societal systems pollutes totally . you will be shocked that in some areas where even tinubu himself may be scared of going of maybe hostile reception, the people there will welcome him with open arms . the Nigerian masses themselves are the corrupt system in our national politics . they give politicians the blank cheque to act with impunity . look at the case of adc now . they knew all along that there was a problem but yet they still carried on as if there was no issue . IF THE PEOPLE CAN STAND TOGETHER AND SAY NO IMPUNITY , BELIEVE ME THEIR WILL WILL STAND IGBOPROMISE1: |

| Re: Federal Government Rattled Over Likely Obi/kwankwaso Ticket by WizardOfNG: 6:28pm On Apr 08 |
floss:You ate talking to the wrong person about APC, PDP etal. Political parties in Nigeria have no ideological and/or institutional integrity. This is why leaders move from one Party to the next as if changing cars. Any intellectually evolved and pragmatic Nigerian would know that 2015 to 2023 Presidency is Buhari's and not that of APC. No further proof needed than how Buhari surrounded himself qith Malami, Mamman Daura, Abba Kyari (deceased) and other Fulanis to run Nigeria how they wanted and not how Nigeria deserves to be run to the glory of the people. Remember they pushed Tinubu away and were not interested in his presence or contribution in Buhari'sGovernment. You cannot call that "APC rule" and it is total idiocy, for example, to start blaming Tinubu and others for the rule of Buhari and his Fulani cabal all in the name of "they are all APC". Only Nigerians who wish to pretend our democracy is same as that of Britain and Germany etal, rather than a hundred years behind them, will talk APC, PDP, Labour etc. I am.a pragmatist and I don't engage in self-delusion. 2023 to 2031 is Tinubu's Presidency and, given the monumentally failed condition he met Nigeria in, I will scrutinise his Presidency critically after 5 years I.e after May 2028. I am solidly behind him till then as I know the extremely severe problems he met on ground and the time and effort required to overturn them. |
