Clearly, there are circumstances under which reasonable self-defense is justified. People have a right to protect themselves and their loved ones from aggression and deadly harm. When escape is not possible, there is no Biblical injunction against reasonably defending ourselves.

The moment my brother raises his arms against me to shed my blood, he ceases to be a Christian. I must defend myself against him. No Christian attacks his fellow humans first. The aggressor is the erring one, and the target has a right to defend against the aggression. Once you an an aggressor, you stop being a Christian.

God is our protector too, but He is a God of order. He gives you wisdom and strength to defend yourself, then The also puts government there as His representative. You also have your fellow humans as neighbors as immediate helpers. When all human efforts fail, God steps in. That's how God works. God won't help you until you have used the resources He has given you.

Can you imagine the Israelites saying God is their protector, and therefore never go to battle? The same God who protects Israel teaches her to war!

The soldiers only follow orders. They follow human leader orders and what they do is obviously against God's will.

Things were different with ancient Israel. All their fight were backed by God against their enemies.

Now Christians or Gods people are found across all nations. So it doesn't make sense that God support a country to fight against another country.

That is what Jesus God's only begotten Son taught those who listened to him among them {Matthew 5:43-48} when they were leaving Egypt God's order is for them to see how He will fight for them {Exodus 14:14} when they become a nation God commanded them to fight any enemy of the HOLY LAND not their own nation o?
But when Jesus said there is no more a holy land {John 4:22-24} fighting to defend any place becomes unscriptural for faithful servants of God.

Now, you're getting it.

Every fighter is on God's side until proven otherwise. If you asked Absalom when he was fighting his father, he'll tell you he was on God's side. Every soldier on the battlefield is on God's side. God knows those on His side, and He'll judge the matter by the outcome of the war.

We believers are spiritual soldiers. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. But, the very symbolism of the spiritual warfare runs in tandem with physical warfare. God Himself is called "Jehovah, the Man of War. Exodus 15:3.

There is evil, and infact, debilitating evil in the world. If there's no one to oppose the evil, evil will take over the world. If there are no soldiers in different nations today, for example, even you Cornelboy and Maxindhouse would have either been unalived (God forbid) or forced into Islam. Jesus didn't teach that nations should not defend themselves against an aggressor.

The Bible teaches that rulers bear the sword for good reasons!

God does not permit anyone to bear the sword against his fellow human, but God permits rulers to bear the sword against evil.
