Why Are We So Vindictive As Christians? by Omooba77: 6:57am On Apr 29, 2018
Why is it so difficult for so many of us as Christians to let off simple matters; but rather wants to take our pounds of flesh. Some even go to the extent of wishing ill-luck or death for 'offender'.
Please why are we so Vindictive as Christians?

Christians are taught to be "wise as a serpent and patient as a dove". When you practise this, you look vindictive to the uniniciated.

They don't know the true work of grace. Many Christians only use Christianity as a weapon to fight their enemies. Forgetting that the central message of Christianity is Love, forgiveness and mercy.

I would say Nigerian Christians. It is mainly here that I hear Christians praying for people (enemies) to die and evil befall them. I guess it's the type of Christianity that was evolved by locals here. Plenty churches everywhere but no love

African Christians..

Theyre first to wish you death whenever you question their faith.
First to wish you death whenever you have a feud with them.
First to pronounce judgement on you once you spot a flaw in whatever religious process of theirs..

Every Sunday NL pushes topic that are targeted at ridiculing Christian practises to front page and everyone jumps in to make all manner of comments. However on Fridays, the topics pushed to the FrontPage for Muslims promotes and propagates the faith, you can not even comment without swearing to an oath of allegiance to the Faith. Are NL moderators on a mission against the Christian Faith?
Let every True Child of God reflect on this before promoting or commenting on post such as this lest you join the enemies to pull down the church, yes the Church has its challenges but that is why Christian need to walk with the Lord to be conformed to his image

Why must controversial topics about Christianity be posted every sunday? Can't the mods just post positive stuffs for Sundays.
This is being insensitive to people's faith, it's an act of extremism from the guardians of this site.
I don't see negative stuffs about Islam on Fridays.
Christians should forget denomination and speak up against this rather than debate this. undecided

You are from the piss religion, been vindictive is a human perspective, if any religion directly preaches been vindictive it is the terrorist religion.
Christianity is clear and direct on grace and how Christian must treat even their enemies

I Am not saying that you are not right but in a place like nigeria, you will have to first ask why no one challenged rufai when he made his infamous statement. And in a country with a Muslim population this question is a no no.
some Christians are vindictive but compared to Muslims, most of them will claim to be saints and you won't fault that.
BUT TRUTH is that weather CHRISTIAN or Muslim if you do not forgive those that offend you, GOD will not forgive your own offences. PROUDLY CHRISTIAN

Why are Christians not speaking up against this loopsidedness in the religious segment, this topic is a direct arrangement from a non Christian, while they place an oat to be sworn to a blood thirsty pig before commenting on a segment they allow free entrance to Christian space.

For equity we must get our oat

Christians aren't vindictive in any way! What you supposed to say is "why is it that many of those professing to be Christians are vindictive". One fact escaping our notice is that there is just one authentic Christian group, in their midst there's nothing like vindication for mortals it's only God's sovereignty that must be vindicated, as for we humans true Christianity taught US that we're all sinners and sinners are supposed to die(Romans 3:23, 6:23) so any living person should be thinking of how to reconcile with God and get hold of the real life(1Timothy 6:19) not thinking of vengeance.(Psalms 37:7-11) If someone who's vindictive mistakenly finds himself in the midst of true Christians he/she will certainly find his/her way out of the group because Christians were taught by their founder who happens to be a young man from Nazareth that they must be willing to forgive at all times! Matthew 18:22 Satan is the owner of all the other religious groups on Earth and he knows that if Christianity is let alone honesthearted ones will easily distinguish between right and wrong, that's why Satan immediately initiated so many religious groups claiming to be Christians(Matthew 13:24-40) but the fruit of Christianity will be absent in their midst,(Matthew 7:17-20) that's why you taught Christians are vindictive when you can't distinguish between true Christians and fake!

Vindictiveness is not a Christian thing. It's a trait that does not recognise religion, gender, ethnicity or race. Rather, it is part and parcel of human nature

Correct! That's why Christians are admonished to put on the new personality(Ephesians 4:23/24) that's created in God's image because sin has made most humans fall short of God's glory(meaning we're too far from HIS holiness).Romans 6:23

You may be vindictive. I am not vindictive. I know thousands of Christians who are not vindictive. I don't know how you will use a sample of those who refuse to grow in grace to categorize the abundant number of of those who are living Christ like. This is laziness in thinking. Don't throw away the baby with the bath water.

For those who are vindictive, do you pray for them? Do you allow the light of Christ to flow through you to show a difference? Why do you think Jesus instructed us in this manner in Matthew 5: 38 - 48? Do you think he was referring to our relationship with unbelievers only?

38 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'

39 But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

41 If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
