Good day house. Please I Need Serious Advice From Mature Nairalanders.
A close friend of mine asked me for sincere, mature and brutally honest advice because he is at a very serious crossroads in his life, and I decided to bring it here so mature Nairalanders can weigh in objectively.
My friend is a Nigerian man, financially stable and by God’s grace doing okay in his profession. He has now reached that point where he wants to settle down and build a home, but he is deeply confused because there are four different women in his life presently, all with different qualities, and he is trying to know which one truly has the best long-term wife potential.
The first is a 25-year-old Nigerian lady. She is still in school but also works as a tailor. She is tall, pretty and Christian. However, she was not a virgin when he met her. She told him she was raped at 18 and later had casual sex twice with a guy she was not dating. Beyond that, his major concern is her temperament. She can be moody and sometimes gives attitude, especially when she is corrected. At times she easily gets irritated and puts up an off behaviour that worries him as someone looking for peace in marriage.
The second is a 26-year-old Nigerian lady. She is a BSc graduate and currently works in a supermarket. She was a virgin when he met her and he was her first sexual partner. She is naturally playful, cool, fun to be with and generally easy around him. She is also a little pretty and youthful. Her father is late, her mother is a teacher, and one of her sisters is married to a doctor and lives in the UK with kids. She seems very attached to him already and from all indications believes marriage is where this relationship is heading. However, one little thing that occasionally bothers my friend is that she seems to have some unusual body hair in places ladies do not commonly have, which sometimes makes him wonder if there may be any hormonal issue or whether it may subtly affect his long-term physical attraction.
The third is a 32-year-old Ethiopian lady who is a medical doctor. She is very beautiful, elegant, calm, reserved and still a virgin. She is quite intelligent too. They have been communicating for about two years now, though communication has not always been frequent because of his work and distance. One thing drawing my friend strongly to her is the possibility of having beautiful intelligent children and also having a sophisticated educated wife, but he is also worried about the cultural difference, the distance, and her age, and the cost of travelling to Ethiopia just to explore that option.
The fourth is a 29-year-old Ethiopian lady, also a medical doctor. She is warmer and more engaging than the third one, more proactive in communication, welcoming and generally easier to talk to. She appears like a good person, but to be honest my friend does not find her as physically attractive as the others, even though she seems more available and open.
The fifth is a Nigerian medical doctor in residency training who will be 31 this year. She was also a virgin before my friend became her first sexual partner some time ago. She seems nice, gentle, professionally accomplished and comes from a well-to-do family, which my friend likes. He also likes the idea of having a fellow professional wife. However, she appears romantically naive, somewhat unromantic, and one issue causing concern is that she has submucosal fibroids which my friend fears may affect fertility in future.
Now here is where the matter gets complicated. My friend has already been intimate with both the 26-year-old Nigerian lady and the 31-year-old doctor, and both women seem emotionally invested in him to different degrees. The 26-year-old especially somehow believes she is the only serious woman in his life, so there is already emotional attachment and expectation from her side. My friend says one thing is that this second girl occasionally has some body hair in unusual places for a lady (e.g. under chin, cheek, chest-though it is subtle)/ abnormal hormonal traits physically, and he sometimes wonders whether there may be any underlying hormonal imbalance and whether his long-term physical attraction may reduce with time. Would you still advise he goes ahead?

Another thing bothering my friend is that compared to the doctor options, this second girl is the least professionally accomplished and still works in a supermarket. He sometimes wonders whether he may later feel he settled too low intellectually or socially. Does that still make her the best choice?

True, that is one of his fears too. But he also wonders whether cultural simplicity alone should outweigh his stronger physical attraction to the Ethiopian, especially since Ethiopian ladies are often said to be quite traditional, family-oriented and peaceful as well, plus he still has one or two little physical concerns about the second girl.

It's obvious that you're the guy and not any imaginary friend. So you think you will always be physically attracted to your woman? Beauty will fade away and if your relationship is based on physical looks just know you have failed already and you're building on a faulty foundation.

I'm not saying physical looks doesn't matter but a serious relationship shouldn't be based on that, it should be more. You should be able to connect with the other person on so many levels and be on same mission or both missions complement each other.
