How do you discard your wedding ring after losing your partner?

Some people say you should place it in the casket before burial; a final gesture of love and closure. But what happens if, like me, you didn’t think of that at the time? Does that now carry some deeper meaning, as some might assume?

I’m simply asking, sincerely: how do you part with your wedding ring?

Except if it's cheap, relax till u recover from the loss, then sell it. Love shouldn't make u do stupid things like burying a treasure like a diamond ring in the ground with a dead body.

People attach some annoying meanings to things that are not that deep. Just keep the ring, sell it, hand over to you son (or daughter), fling it into the river or flush it down the toilet. It's just an accessory.

The ring doesn't mean shiii if you don't want it to mean shiii

I don't see anything wrong in keeping it.

But it depends on how you want it, if you think keeping it would stop you from getting over the person do whatever you like with it.

My friend... what can I say?! If, GOD FORBID, my wife goes before me to another world, I will damn sure keep the ring. We are married in this life and will remain in the afterlife!

Nobody should dictate how you mourn.
It is within you to do so.
That wedding ring symbolises eternal connection till death.
Since death has now occurred, you are free from the union.
During grief, you decide on your own whether to continue to wear it or discard it.
You can decide to stop wearing it when you feel it is time to move on after rediscovering love.
You can make it a pendant and wear with a chain.
You can put it in a ring box and let be there.
You are at liberty to do with it whatever pleases you.
Many people are in joyless marriages and so do not in the event of the death of a spouse feel any pain or have fond memories.
They write from a sense of relief that at last, like Peter Obi, they can jump from one partner to another shamelessly.

Well you have to let it go at some point, you can go to the grave site and leave it there,or throw it into the river or melt it as someone said and also you can sell it afterwards cos dont forget her ring is returned to you as well.

I still wear mine sometimes.

Seeing her ring is so painful
.in tears just thinking of her memories

I never prayed for such event but life happened 2 years ago, I was distabilized, confused and can't even think straight.
I returned back home, 2 months later, sent all her stuffs to her siblings to ship to her parent.
Its a bitter experience I don't wish to remember again. She will always be part of me even though I ve moved on.

I have gone through grief.
I know the valleys, hills and mountains on it's path.
I have navigated it through God and good people around me.
Life is a journey into the unknown but in all we must remain grateful to God.
2 weeks ago, my neighbour lost her husband.
It was confusion and anxiety everywhere.
I told her to simmer down.
I told her to be deliberate and intentional.
Secure all his assets first.
Then later you can cry.
We can not be limited by the pangs of sorrow only to be shattered by betrayal from one's husband greedy siblings.
May we grow old together.
Death is inevitable but may it happen when those we will leave behind are in a position to carry on.
