Sources told SaharaReporters that shortly after the publication of the newspaper’s exclusive report detailing how at least 36 soldiers and Mobile Police officers were killed during coordinated attacks in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, commanders expressed anger that the information leaked to the press. Fresh details have emerged following the deadly Boko Haram attacks on two military formations in Yobe State, with military sources alleging that top Nigerian Army authorities have begun a crackdown on soldiers suspected of leaking operational failures to the media after pressure from the office of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The attacks occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday night into Friday morning when Boko Haram insurgents stormed the Theatre Training Centre in Buniyadi and the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Gari, both located in the hometown of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni. Military sources told SaharaReporters that the publication of the incident angered top security officials in Abuja. “One of the commanders received a call immediately after the story was published. The commander said the call came from the National Security Adviser Ribadu’s office,” a military source said. "They were angry that information about the attack got to the media so quickly.” The source said that military commanders were instructed to suppress reports relating to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province attacks ahead of the 2027 general elections. “We were told clearly that going forward, information about Boko Haram or ISWAP attacks should not be made public until after the 2027 elections,” the source alleged. "They said such reports are damaging the image of President Bola Tinubu’s government and the military. The instruction was that operational failures should be managed internally.” The source further claimed that threats were issued against soldiers suspected of leaking information to journalists. “Commanders warned that any soldier found communicating with the media would face severe punishment,” the source said. "The threat was serious. People are scared because they believe they can be framed or targeted at any time.” SaharaReporters had earlier reported that dozens of security personnel were killed after insurgents launched simultaneous assaults on the two military facilities in Yobe. One of the soldiers who survived the attack had narrated how the insurgents invaded the formations during the midnight assault. "My camp was attacked by Boko Haram. In 27TF BDE Buni Gari, three soldiers were killed in action and the attack started around 1:00 a.m. The Boko Haram (terrorists) were attacking us and at the same time attacking our neighbouring camp,” the soldier had told SaharaReporters. Another military source described the incident as one of the deadliest recent attacks on troops in the area. "Last night was bloody,” the soldier said in a voice recording obtained by SaharaReporters. “We started hearing that Boko Haram was attacking Buniyadi around one o’clock in the morning. We wanted to reinforce them, but before we could move, they started attacking our own camp too.” According to military sources, the Theatre Training Centre in Buniyadi recorded the highest casualties, with 17 Mobile Police officers undergoing training reportedly killed. Sources added that 10 soldiers attached to the training programme and six permanently deployed soldiers also died during the attack, bringing the total death toll from both attacks to at least 36. The latest allegations have raised fresh concerns over transparency within Nigeria’s military operations in the North-East, where insurgent groups continue to carry out deadly attacks despite repeated claims by authorities that terrorism has been largely contained. https://saharareporters.com/2026/05/11/exclusive-tinubus-nsa-ribadu-orders-army-conceal-boko-haram-iswap-attacks-until-after |

We don't know whether to believe this or not because soldiers do not have to relate attack especially by Boko haram because the communities around the camp will know and tell journalists. You can't repress attacks because they are not using silent guns. This is a sensational story. |

I absolutely dont care that the Op choose a title that is at variance with the title from the original article a standard 2k attitude. It is common practice in military and intelligence circles to conceal the loses that state suffers from enemy activities. US and Israel for instance has been doing it with the Iran War. Russia has been doing it with Ukraine. The world over, this is the norm, and for a good reason. The enemies themselves do the same; declare their victories and conceal their defeats. But i know the minds of some enemies of Nigeria who double as fanatical supporters of the 2k dispenser can never get the hang of the strategy. |

Didn't you read that a call was made from the NSA's office to suppress the attack..... Ribadu is in charge of the NSA office so he made the call, he needs to explain why such evil directive was issued out from his office... If Nigeria was a country, the national assembly should've summoned him by now.... Nigeria remains a costly contraption that breeds bad leadership and injustice..... omenka: |

truthera:I would wait for more sources to corroborate the story. Saharareporters are not always right. They thrive on sensationalism. For those running along with the story because of their dislike for BAT, I hope if Saharareporters accuse your preferred candidate tomorrow of molesting a minor, you would not come here to cry. |

The denial of killing of Nigerian troops by these wicked terrorists didn't start today but it a very heartless thing to do. Providence will surely deal with everyone involved. |
