BREAKING: Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau has been announced as the APC consensus candidate for the Kano North senatorial election in 2027, following the withdrawal of former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.

Gwarzo agreed to drop his ambition after a request from President Tinubu, delivered through Vice President Shettima on Monday.

After Monday's meeting with Vice President Shettima, Gwarzo formally withdrew from the race at a follow-up meeting of key APC stakeholders from Kano North held yesterday at the Kano State Government House.

The meeting was attended by Governor Abba Yusuf, former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, House of Representatives member Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, Kano State APC Chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa, and Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo.

APC is unstoppable in Kano. Victory in 2027 is assured already.

Gwarzo has no option, he will be compensated.
But doubt if he could have met up with the DSP at the party primaries. Consensus is the order of the day in APC

I'm very sure APC will win Kano in a landslide. If Kwankwaso and Obi see 20k votes, it should be probed as fraud. Kwankwaso is merely deceiving Obi. He will never take a risk of running with Obi when he knows it is going to end in a colossal failure, thereby ruining his chances in 2031. Obi ti lule for the 2nd time. APC is very organised and formidable to be displaced by a liliputian like Peter gringory

Kwakwanso will be disgraced in kano come 2027.

APC has lots of heavyweights and I don't if Kwakwanso can natch them.

Just look at how Tinubu is managing his “home” and resolving his “family” issues, while Obi and Atiku from one party to another

Use your brain and know that primary election doesn't mean fight but a democratic way of choosing the best to serve the people and not who the Lagos landlord and other godfathers chooses.

I think he's the leader of APC and he ordered them to do so if you read the news. It'll takes years to repair the damage Tinubu has done to our democracy for real.

That it works in Kano does not mean it will work in other states. Ondo APC for instance is in serious crisis at the moment because of consensus arrangements. I just hope and pray innocent lives will not be affected.

Did you hear me mention PO here? In a case where it's obvious that Atiku has bought the party what do you expect? I even blame Obi for joining the party from the initial time. Tinubu is a threat to our democracy shikina.
